Got the VZW update this morning. My notification tones and ringtones all defaulted to the standard. When I try to change them back, I get:
"Wrong file type, Please Select Again" It doesn't matter if the file types are .wav, .mp3 or .m4a
Try this:
Power down phone
Press/hold volume up and home keys, then press/hold power key
When phone vibrates, release power key
When system recovery menu displays, release volume up/home keys
Use volume keys to navigate to wipe cache partition and press power key to select
Once finished, press power key to reboot system
Did that. No joy. Files that used to be able to be used for notifications and ringtones still come back with the error "wrong file type please select again".
I called VZW tech support. Suggested I try a ringtone app on playstore. So, one of them worked for my ringtone. But, can't select the other options I was using for Gmail, Mail, Facebook, Mesenger+, Calendar and New Voicemail.
I mean, I can get used to new notification messages I suppose. Just frustrating that the ones I've been using since my Blackberry days for gods sake and through several years on Android can't be used.
