Can anyone help? I was told at Verizon store that if I get a new prepaid phone to replace one that I broke, a new month starts and I lose my 30 days of service for which I just paid.
My understanding about prepaid is that you still have a SIM card which is where your account balance lies. The amount you have isn't located on the actual device which means you should still be able to switch prepaid phones simply by moving your current SIM into a new device. Just don't start another prepaid service with a new number etc.

Yes and no. You can use other devices and setup the device to match your current plan. However if you just buy a new prepaid without transferring anything over then you would have a new number and new balance. If you transfer it over you would lose whatever balance that generally is tied to new devices.
