Got a new Samsung Galaxy s6 edge plus last week and it appears to be using an unusual amount of data. I have a 2GB plan and never use more than a half a GB in any month. In fact the Verizon corporate store had commented when looking at my account how little data I use, when getting the new phone. That is because I'm with Comcast and get free Xfinity Wifi with speeds of 130 to 270 mbps.
So far over a 6 day period the s6 has used over half of my 2GB. In the 1st two days it used 2/3 of a GB. In looking into the s6 it seemed to be from the Google Play Store, even though I hadn't installed any apps, just browsed the store 3 times. So I changed settings in the play store and haven't opened it in 3 days. So that appears to have slowed that down.
Last night there was a Verizon Messages app update, which I use Wifi for all updates etc. The update was scanned by Total Mobile Protection (TMP) which I have, with my insurance plan. I wonder if TMP is using data, in the back ground, even though being connected to Wifi? There has been about 30 previous updates in the past week as well.
So if anyone may have any ideas? I'm just trying to figure out what maybe causing the data use, especially where my data use has always been low, and not doing anything differently.
A couple of years ago when I first got a Droid Maxx there was an extremely high date use. Which I found was coming from an app called Google Plus. After uninstalling it eliminated the data loss.
I have about 23 days left in my billing cycle. Which at this rate of data use would put me well over the 2GB in the plan I have.
