Retrieving Deleted Text Messages

I am trying to retrieve deleted text messages, with content, from February of this year between 2 numbers.  Is it possible to retrieve them in full content without a court order? Can a private investigator gain access to them with contest of the owner of the account?

We are unable to retrieve text messages once they have been deleted from the phone. You are only able to view text message details online via My Verizon for the last three months. The message details include the date, time, and numbers of the text message. It will not show the text message content.

A court order is required to retrieve text messaging content and but you will not be able to retrieve messages deleted back in February.
