To get rid of the google search bar, hold down on the home screen to get the wallpaper, widget icons. You will also see a settings icon beside them. Choose that and you have the option of turning off the google search function on the home screen.
I totally forgot that's on the original Turbo ... thanks for the reminder; good to know it's also on the Turbo 2.
Or you can always chance to a different Launcher, like Nova which allows more customizations.
