How can I stop/ turn off s6 automatic pdf downloading? Or are least have my device ask first before downloading forms, information, etc... its using a lot of my data. Thank you in advance.
While checking browser settings, I also came across another setting that is likely to be causing this - your default app settings (since you said it happens automatically - I get options on how to handle the file, so I'm thinking you may have set the default to download....). Go to Settings -> Applications -> Default Applications and see if there is a PDF reader or file download manager listed. If there is, then clear it. Then try going to the site to see if you get options for how to deal with the file, with the choice to use the option Just once, or Always use the app.
Hope this helps.
I know it is important to manage your data Cj02. What is the Make of your device? How are these forms being (web, app, etc) downloaded? Are you selecting a link to download the forms? As the rep, AmberF asked, how are you getting to these downloads? If it's a link or attachment in your email, you can set the preferences for email to always ask before downloading, or to only download when connected to wifi.
If you are getting the downloads when you are browsing websites and clicking on links to PDF files, then you would need to adjust the browser settings so that you are always asked before downloading, or again, only download over wifi.
In any case, the settings will be from within the app where you are accessing the downloads.
Thank you for responding.
I have a galaxy s6. I am not selecting a link to download. Automatic
downloading is happening from the web.

Suzy, thank you and Amber. I think it maybe what you said Suzy. It maybe
the brower setting. How do I change this on my device? I tried but I need
step-by-step instructions. Will you please help me? I have attached a
website as an example. I was on this website and clicked" Somers family
reading nite", it automatically downloaded the form, and saved it to my
flies.
Suzy thank you for all your help, I appreciate it. I've attached a screen
shot of my default applications, I don't see what you've described. Again,
thank you!!

I hit the yellow arrow to reply but it only gives me email options to
reply. :smileysad:
I'm giving up. I'll go into a store. SuzyQ, a big thank you so much, to you
and the verizon support team for taking the time to help me, it's greatly
appreciated.
I am not giving up on this Cj02. I really do appreciate all you have done so far and SuzyQ is awesome. Were you able to try the steps that she has provided? The phone should not automatically download docs from the web unless you click on a link. Are you using Google Chrome or the Internet one? Does it do it on the other browser?

Thank you for still helping and keeping the faith that this issue can be
resolved. I appreciate it.
I use Goggle as a search engine. And if you still have/ remember my
example(screenshot)
of, "Somers family reading nite" . Which is a topic on a website for a
school.
I went to the website and was hoping to just open, and read about, "Somers
family night", but instead it downloaded and saved to my files. It never
has an option to just open, and read. I haven't tried another browser. I
have tried all of the steps/ suggestions that SuzyQ has provided.
Thanks for all your help.
