Why do my contacts keep duplicating?

That sounds like a strange thing to be happening. I know that I'd be concerned if my contacts were being duplicated.
When did this begin occurring? How often do they seem to be duplicating? Please share a few more details so we can get to the bottom of this. Thank you.

When did this begin occurring? 4 to 6 weeks ago
How often do they seem to be duplicating? Seems like it is ongoing., I have many contacts in my phone (over several thousand)
Please share a few more details so we can get to the bottom of this. ( I will pull up a contact and cannot find the name displayed. However several copies of another name appears and when I open that contact I find the information contains 2 contacts in one. The other issue is the contacts will multiple and not all of the information is copied over.
I do have the Cloud back up but not all the information copies 100% in the back up. I believe I have Google backup as well.

Thanks, you provided good information Bluemax21. Let's look further into this. Did anything specific happen right before this began (new application or accounts added to the phone, device changes)? There is nothing specific I recall such as adding new apps etc. As for the back up to the cloud it will not take any notes on the contact and sometimes seems only part of the contact information will be backed up.
Is there someone I can talk to ref. this issue or better yet see locally at a Verizon store?
Bluemax21, I can understand the concern of having the conctacts in your phone correctly. I also want to make sure that all of your information is being backed up. You can always take the device into a Verizon Wireles store to have them inspect the device.
