Anytime you're concerned about odd consumer notices like that, check a government website. You'll find info about the lawsuit http://www.consumerfinance.gov/blog/sprint-and-verizon-will-refund-120-million-to-consumers-harmed-by-illegal-billing-practices/
I am pretty sure this is real. It was posted on CNN You could be owed a refund from Verizon and Sprint, but you'll have to act fast - Dec. 24, 2015
