Latest Software Update Bug

Our account phones were updated on 12/11/15. Ever since the update we are unable to switch from WiFi to verizon data when we disconnect from wifi. In order to connect to verizon data, we have to restart our phones each time. Can someone please get a fix asap?

OK, have you tried backing up your important information and performing a Factory Data Reset? Sometimes updates require it. This would be a destructive operation unfortunately, so if your not confident in backing up your information and restoring it, it would be better to let someone else do it.

Squirrelovesquirrels, updates are meant to be a nice treat for your phone not causing this issue. Does it only happen with one network or multiple WIFI networks?

Same exact problem. No matter what we do, the minute we disconnect from wifi, any wifi, we are not being connected to your Verizon data network unless we restart our phones. This was not an issue until the latest software update. Same thing happens when we disconnect from WiFi to try and access our data through out Verizon network extender.

Same issue here since software update on 12/11/15. Three calls to VW technical support, no luck. Now they're saying the software needs repair and I need to do this either using their repair assistant or go see the Samsung rep in a Best Buy store.

This is definitely a bug in the software update. I'm having the same issue with my S6. Verizon, please do something about this.

After struggling with this issue for a few weeks,my techie nephew wiped my cache partition five days ago and so far the problem has not reoccurred. Fingers crossed......

Update: About 2 months since the update, I've tried everything recommended in this thread and nothing is working for either of our phones. We still do not connect automatically to data when we leave a wifi connection. Beyond frustrated at this point and nothing is working. What is your update on this?

There are a lot of apps, many rooted in and preinstalled like VLA and DT ignite which actually are in control of your (outside of our preselected or the consumer control) wifi to network selectors. When I did a quick overview I saw four apps that are part of the system that fully control that. My bets are, there is a conflict with how they are running your system for you. The job of these apps are to send marketing personal data to perapproved verizon authorized 3rd party companies so they can either download their information on your phone without your approval or send you ads. I think it should be fully disclosed at the time of purchase that they apps are placed on your phone and that the customer has full control over how they are set up. Disabling them does not make them go away and they re-enable with updates.

You forgot a step when you disable the applications you don't want to use. You didn't turn off the notifications in the application info screen. I have had certain applications disabled since the first day I got my current phone over 6 months ago or on my previous phones before this one. Not one of the disabled applications has been re-enabled because of an update nor have they had an update installed for them.

It never does. I have to reboot my phone every time in order to get it to work. My husbands phone is the exact same way.

I have the Galaxy S6 and it was perfectly fine until the lastest Verizon update. I've disabled/uninstalled whatever I do not need use, that includes a lot of the preloaded Verizon applications. I don't believe this is the issue, I think there is a bug in the latest update. I'm not a huge app person so I don't download anything I don't need and use my phone for it's intent, texts, emails and calls. I avoid the random applications due to security issues and concerns about third parties.

The inconvenience of you having to turn off and on your phone in order to connect to our data should not be happening. Did you have the opportunity to perform the factory data reset? With major updates, sometimes factory resets need to be performed in order for us to proceed.
