I downloaded the IMDb app to my Galaxy S6 Edge+, and I could have sworn that the app icon was on my home screen, but now I can't find it anywhere. This is strange, because: * when I look at all my icons, including those in groups, I can'f find an IMDb icon * I went to Apps/A-Z to sort the app icons alphabetically, looked at the sorted icons under I, and didn't see IMDb * but if I go to Settings/Applications/Applications Manager, the IMDb app is included in the list * and if I go to the App's page in Play Store, I see the Uninstall/Open buttons, indicating that I already have the App I can still open the App from the Play Store page, and I suppose if I uninstalled/reinstalled it I would end up with an icon again. But does anyone know a more direct way of recreating an icon from an app? Thanks for any advice.

Do you have an Amazon folder in your app drawer and if so, did you look for IMDb there?

Hey, Telemachus! I know how convenient it is to have your applications where you can easily access them. In your apps screen, do you have individual folders with mulitiple applications in them? Sometimes if you open the folder you will see the missing application there.

Have you tried uninstalling the application, and installing it again?

Yes, I looked in all the folders and the IMDb icon wasn't there.

Uninstalling/installing would probably work to recreate the icon, but I thought first I would ask if there was a more direct way to do this. I'm thinking about something like the way it's easy to make a desktop shortcut to a program in Windows. It's surprising if there's not something like this feature in Android.

Well, this continues to be puzzling.

I can't uninstall the IMDb app via the Play Store page. On my other installed apps, when I go to the Play Store page for them, I get Uninstall and Open buttons. When I go to that page for the IMDb app, I get Update and Open buttons. If I hit Update, the IMDb app appears to update without problems, but then the IMDb app Play Store page still gives only Update and Open buttons -- it doesn't revert to Uninstall and Open buttons, so I can't uninstall the app from that page (and the IMDb update still didn't creat an icon on my home screen.)

So if I follow the instructions for deleting an app by going to Apps/Edit, I still can't uninstall IMDb because the IMDb icon isn't displayed under Apps either.

I don't know if the problem is with Verizon, Samsung, Play Store, or IMDb. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this, and have they found an answer to the question of how to get an icon for an app which is installed but for which an icon doesn't appear?

Telemachus, thanks for checking it out. You are definitely right about there being a more direct way to do this. Usually, you just tap and hold the application, and it goes out the home screen for you to access quickly. The fact that it wasn't even showing in your applications screen is very strange.

Please, try it again for me after you install IMDb and let me know what happens.

The problem as I explained above, is that I can't uninistall/reinstall the app, since neither the Play Store screen nor the phone's Apps/Edit screen enables me to uninistall it so I can then re-install it. And now I find that the phone's Settings/Applications/Application Manager will only let me uninstall updates to the app, but not the app itself.

Telemachus, let’s get this figured out. With this device, IMBD comes as a stock application meaning it was there when you activated it. That’s means you will not have the ability to uninstall but rather clear cache, clear data and force stop. Have you given this a try? The only other option beyond this is to disable completely which means if you do this the application will be located under application manager under the Turned Off section.

I went to Apps Manage and hit Force Stop Clear Cache Uninstall, and it said

it was reverting to the factory version. I checked my home screen and Apps

group and there was no IMDb icon. When I looked up IMDb in Play Store, it

gave me Update and Open buttons, indicating that Play Store thinks I

already have the IMDb app. When I hit the Update button it does an update,

but when I check the home screeb and the Appls group icon, there is still

no IMDb icon. I've looked at every home screen and in every group icon and

in the A-Z list of icons in the Apps group, but no IMDb icon. But I in fact

have the IMDb app" Play Store knows I have it, because the Play Store page

for the IMDb app gives me only the Uninstall and Open buttons, not an

Install button. And Settings/Applications/Application Manger/Dowloaded

lists the IMDb app, indicating the phone knows I have it. And indeed, when

I go to the Play Store IMDb app page and hit the Open button, the IMDb app

opens on my phone. But this is the ONLY way I can open the app. No icon

for the app appears anywhere on my home screens or in the appls listed when

I hit my Apps group, and nothing I do has been able to change this

situation. I have the app, but cannot get an icon for it.

Well, I still don't have an answer (even though there are green stars on some of the replies saying Correct Answer -- they aren't.)

The situation remains: Play Store thinks I have the IMDb app and won't let me uninstall it. Applications Manager on the phone, same thing. They will let me uninstall the updates, but not the app itself. So I can't uninstall it and reinstall it. But the IMDb app icon is not in my Apps folder or anywhere else. Very irritating.

I got the correct answer from tikibar1, above. The gotcha is that apparently all apps do appear in your apps group, but if they are part of a group inside the apps group, the icon doesn't appear inside the apps group by itself, you have to look in the group (in this case the Amazon group) within the apps group.
