I thought it was backup online, but it was also deleted in My Verizon.

Hello, thanks for the reply. I was using the message + app which I thought
was the verizon app and they were backed up online with that app. I have a
Samsung Galaxy s6. Thanks.

Making sure you can restore your backed up messages is important. Verizon Messages is the best way to retrieve anything that was backed up. Follow these steps to restore any backed up messages. Menu Icon (upper left) > Restore Messages > Select online or SD card. Let me know if this helps.
