When I am away from my home wifi, I am not able to access internet with my Galaxy S6. I am sure ity must be the settings, but I cannot figure it out.

Please enable data as per this link: http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-151448/Once data is enabled you should be able to access the internet with your phone.
