My work has recently been dealing with interference issues on several of our wifi access points, so they switched some of them over from dual band to 5GHz, including the one that serves my office. I have been sitting right next to the access point, and while my S4 shows a strong signal, it won't connect. I've tried forgetting the network and adding it again, restarting the phone, and restarting the access point. We did a test in another part of the building and found that again, the phone will not connect to a 5GHz access point even when sitting right next to it, but it will connect to a 2.4GHz access point that has a weaker signal. Other people (with different phones & other devices) can connect to the 5GHz access points without a problem. I have not yet been able to run a test with the one other person in my dept. who has a Verizon S4, so I'm not sure if it's just my phone or Verizon S4's in general that have this problem. I've accidentally eaten up a bunch of my data because I am usually on wifi in my office and didn't notice that I wasn't. My phone's almost 2 years old and working perfectly in all other respects, so while I doubt it's under any kind of warranty, I really don't want to replace it. Any suggestions for how to fix this?
