Can't access Internet after turning off hotspot and enabling wifi

I am a consultant and frequently use my Galaxy S5 as a mobile hotspot for my laptop at customer sites, which works perfectly. However, when I disable the hotspot when I get home, frequently (although not always) the phone will connect to an access point but I can't access the Internet. If I turn off wifi I can get Internet fine over the 4G network. If I restart the phone it connects to wifi and I can get to the Internet without a problem. I have experienced while attaching to different access points and SSIDs.

While the phone does restart quickly, this is a step I would prefer to avoid. Any idea what the problem is?

MTGraber, we know that convenience is something we expect from our smartphones. Lets figure out why this is happening. Have you checked for a software update in Settings> Updates?How often would you say this happens?

It sounds like your phone has conditioned to you using hotspot. One thing that could definitely help is clearing out your recently used applications after turning off the hotspot, because it can continue running in the backgroud. To do this, Tap the menu button to the left of your home button> Tap Task Manager> Close all.

Also, Airplane mode is a much quicker way to refresh the network, rather than a soft reset. I  know that can be timely. Keep us updated on what happens.
