Samsung Galaxy S5 not connecting to WiFi router at work or home. It briefly connects, then disconnects. Always searching. ??How can I fix this

I am having trouble with my Galaxy S5. I can connect to a Wireless Router, but i'm constantly disconnected. The phone gets hot from constantly searching and connecting, then dropping and reconnecting. This occurs on my router at home as well as router at work.

Any advice would be appreciated.

My S4 exists similar behavior if I crank the screen to full brightness.

The back of the phone gets very warm and I see messages that my phone is connected the router flash on the screen every-so-often.

It looks to me like a thermal-related problem of some sort.

djfor0524 We're sorry to hear your device is constantly disconnecting from wifi. We'll figure this out together. How long has this been an issue? Have you tried any other wifi connections other than the one at home and work?

Noticed this happening within the last 2 weeks. My data usage is up. This happens both at work and at home. I've tried the FORGET option on both routers. Reset my router at home. (can't reset the router at work). I've also cleared cache, did a restart of phone and cold boot of phone. nothing helps.

How long has this been occurring for you? How often does this occur? Has there been any physical or water damage to your current device?

I tried on my home and another university. I wasn't able to connect to any of the 3. Sadly :-( I did a factory reset in desperation. I'm now able to connect to my home WiFi and to another university. I am not able to connect to my workplace wireless. Our IT guys are perplexed as well.

No physical damage to phone or water.

Doing a Factory Reset :-( corrected the overheating and connectivity to 2 locations previously unable to connect to. However, still unable to connect to work wireless. Work IT guys are perplexed.

This has been happening for a while now. Pre-dates 5.0.1. Happens ONLY after running the display on full brightness for extended periods of time especially with the charger connected. I have factory defaulted the phone numerous times to resolve other issues, but this one remains.

If I dim the display and the phone cools, the WiFi becomes stable.

My observations would seem to indicate that this is a thermal issue. The phone heats up and the WiFi message starts to flash after a while. The phone cools down and the message stops flashing.

I do not know if it is a problem with the S4 in general, or, if it is unique to my particular unit.

djfor0524 Being able to connect to wifi at work shouldn't be complicated. Let's keep working at this. When was the last time you were able to connect to the wifi at work? Are there other employees at the workplace who have the same device as you and can connect?
