How do I assign a ringtone to a contact (in my case on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+)?
I can't find a clear answer to this anywhere in Verizon documentation.
A search of the Verizon forums shows this question is asked very frequently, with two kinds of results:
- either no answer is given, or
- an answer is given that doesn't work when I try it.
Here are some answers that don't work for me:
- Hit the Contacts App icon, hit the Contact name, hit Edit, and scroll down to a Ringtones item. When I do this, when I hit Edit, I see lots of fields, but none of them have anything to do with Ringtones.
- Go to Settings/Phone/Sound and notification/Ringtones and Sounds. Nope, nothing there under any menu item about assigning a ringtone.
- Use the Verizon Tones app. Nope, that seems to tell you how to assign a Ringback to a contact, but not a Ringtone.
It's astonishing this is so hard to figure out on advanced smartphones. I've had several old, now obsolete plain voice cell phones where it is simple, easy and obvious how to do this.
Since there is clearly much concern and confusion about this, I think someone from Verizon really needs to answer the following questions:
- Is it possible to assign a ringtone to a contact on the current smartphones (esp. in my case the S6 E+)?
- If so, how do you do it?
