Why did my device randomly shut off?

My phone completely shut off last night. I had to do some weird manual restart. Now it keeps running all these weird things when I try to do advanced task killer. It has randomly restarted a few times on it's own. I ran a virus detector and nothing. I am so irritated I could scream.

First, I would remove or disable the task killer - and let the Android system manage it's own tasks.  See if more normal functionality returns once the task killer is out of the picture.  If not, post back and we can do further troubleshooting.
