Any suggestions? I'm trying to download some photos from my s7 to my computer,
go into your settings.
click about phone-
click the build number 5 times- this will turn on the developer options.
go back into your settings click develper options (should be green)
turn usb debuggin on.
go to usb configuration- change it from charging to mtp meda trasnfer protocal. I will take about 5 munuets to install the drivers and you will be able to access your s7 edge with your computer.
What version of Windows or Mac is the computer running?
I just tried to connect my s7 edge to my computer to upload pictures as well and it also didn't recognize it...
Windows 10.
Pugoman, is the phone showing up in Computer Management > Device Manager - under Portable Devices?
If not from within Device Manager go to Universal Serial Bus Controllers and locate USB Mass Storage Device right click on it and go to Properties and try to update the driver, using search automatically for updated driver software. You must have an internet connection to do so.
If the phone is still not recognized the USB cable itself has to be considered. Is it the cable that came with the new phone?
@Pugoman the suggestion from PMccarthy should help with this issue. If is doesn't wecan keep working at this. Have you tried on a different computer? Does anything pop up on the phone when you connect?AdrienneP_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupportIf my response answered your question please click the Correct Answer button under my response. I am having the same issue. I was trying to work with Verizon to trouble shoot wifi issues and needed to do samsung repair but cannot because myou computer with not connect with my phone. Between the wifi/blue tooth issues and this I am ready to return my new phone and go back to my s5
My computer isn't finding my new S7 Edge either. I've tried both bluetooth and USB connection...
We have the same problem... with all of our s7s; they connect to the pc and even make the charging noise... but the pc will not see it and thus we cannot transfer pictures from one to the other. This was not a problem with our previous phones (s4), which the pc recognized without issue. This has left us with no choice but to use Internet-related apps such as email to get the photos from one device to the other, which is rather difficult because there are thirty pictures, and if we were in a place with no Internet, we would be unable to transfer the pictures. I do not want to have to go into the computer's settings and spend an hour working that out; the phone should connect right away as our previous models did. I hope this is corrected in future models.
This did the trick! Thanks so much rck4x4!
The S4 supported an old Microsoft standard which costs more for Android in royalty fees than the current standard being used. Also the current standard allows you to hot swap instead of mounting and dismounting. Overall MTP is better and cheaper.
Of course if a person uses XP instead of Vista or higher would require additional software which can be gotten from MS website. Most reps will not know this stuff.
Make sure you guys also download the drivers if you are on Windows. It'll be part of smart switch or side sync.

Many thanks to rck4x4 since that solution solved the problem! After following the steps my computer immediately recognized the S7 device. Now I can transfer pictures and files from my computer to my new S7.
Tried the usb configuration via developer options. That didn't help either. I even tried transferring pictures to the microSD card. That didn't work. All of my other Samsung phones would give me a choice of charging or media transfer. This S7 does not. Not sure if my local Verizon store can help. Even tried "Smart Switch".
