So Microsoft has finally after months and months released Windows 10 update for mobile devices with a caveat that it is up to the carriers to push it out to their customers.

So what I would like to know is when will Verizon push out the update to my phone which I know is fully capable of handling the upgrade?

I know that when Microsoft release 8.1 Verizon never pushed out the update (for some unknown reason) as I was forced to upgrade to 8.1 via Microsoft Developers app, and 8.1 ran perfectly fine on my then old HTC M8, I now have the Lumia 735 which I specifically purchased with the knowledge that it would get the update to Windows 10 (mobile).

So when is Verizon going to send the new update to our devices?

Do not be jerks by not releasing it to your customers!

If the device isn't listed here, Supported phones for Windows Insider Preview - Microsoft Windows then it's not a Verizon issue but a Microsoft one. Like the Icon isn't on that list so we're [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] for now.

If you have the Lumia 735 you need to install the "Upgrade Advisor" app from the app store. This app will upgrade your device to Windows 10. No carrier is pushing this windows 10 out OTA in the USA.. every one has to install that Upgrade Advisor app. It clearly says that on the Microsoft page.

Which I have installed on my phone, but seems odd that it would say that it isn't sure that my phone is supported when their web-site says otherwise.

Keep trying. Microsoft is rolling this out now. I am really not sure if Verizon has to give their blessings or not. Unlike the Icon, 928, and 822, the 735 is not limited to just Verizon. Let's hope it gets pushed soon. Would like to know when it does. I may switch from the 928 to the 735, as it looks like the end of the road for anything other than the 735.

I rolled back to 8.1 last night and like you downloaded upgrade advisor. It got the same message! it's got to be Verizon. MS said only unlocked phones and Verizon tells me my phone is unlocked!

Well if it is an "if and when" upgrade for Verizon, would it not be better to just use the insider program to download the latest fast build and then switch to preview build for the final release?

I'll give it till tomorrow and if Verizon does not have the update, I will go insider. Seems a really poor upgrade strategy on both MS and Verizon's part.

The problem is, for the phones Microsoft didn't list official eligibility for, they might stop targeting those phones for future insider builds.

I'm on the Lumia 735 myself, a phone that was advertised everywhere as eligible far in advance, and the upgrade advisor says the upgrade isn't available for mine either. Not sure what's going on, but I'm hoping that it's still in the process of rolling out given a large reason for choosing this phone was the promise of this upgrade. I'm patient, but confirmation that it's coming would be nice, I'm just nervous about Verizon and Microsoft's sketchy relationship right now.

Just chatted with a Verizon rep asking when we can expect to see the update pushed out to our devices, this was his reply.

I got a firmware update for my Lumia 735 a little less than a month ago, 2/25/16 I think. So hopefully that was the firmware update getting us ready for the W10 upgrade. I also contacted Verizon through their facebook page, but got no new info and was directed to the page that shows current software updates for all the phones, so no help at all. I know the Lumia 735 is on the list to receive the upgrade, and the upgrade advisor told me my phone was eligible, but that the update was not available yet. I think everyone just wants to know if it will be pushed to Verizon customers soon. But the previous poster who talked to a Verizon rep made me a little optimistic that we'll get it soon.

Nope that firmware update was to Activate Advanced Calling directly on the device along with possible bug fixes and performance improvements but not to prep for Windows 10 Mobile.

Advanced Calling is Verizon's brand of HD Voice calling, so now your calls will sound better and you'll have the ability to turn the feature on and off. To do so, go to Settings -> Cellular + SIM -> SIM Settings -> Advanced Calling.

Granted the 735 is slated as per Microsoft to get Windows 10 Mobile just have to wait till Verizon pushes the button to release it. The UpgradeAdvisor said my Icon was eligible as well and it not getting it per Microsoft.

No date, but it'll happen for some devices eventually. And, the head of Microsoft's Insider Program tweeted they're exploring the possibility of adding the Icon to eligible devices. Closest I can find to any sort of acknowledgement. Hang in there, guys.

It would be interesting to know what really is causing the Microsoft/Verizon feud.... So far its been Verizon saying that Microsoft didn't register for testing of Windows 10 mobile through Verizon. I'm sure that's not the whole story.

Where did you hear about that? That's not even close to anything I've heard. It's very unlikely you'll get an official story anyway.

And, I almost don't care. All I want to hear is, yes we plan on delivering the product that was advertised. I know I can use insider builds, but I shouldn't have to. It kind of makes me want to see if Verizon will exchange this product with an Android device as it's only a few months old before waiting till it's too late.

When is the last time an Android phone got an update at that price level? Probably never.

They have an Android Marshmallow device that's similar spec for the same price. But, at that point, I care less about the OS and getting better app support instead. Having both a two year old OS with a band-aid and an increasing number of 8.1 apps that don't get updated anymore is next to useless.

Verizon Wireless has a reputation for not being supportive of Windows Phones. Reasons offered vary, but the very small number of WP units sold seems to be the one quoted the most.

Myself and others have noted that Verizon Wireless sales people tend to discourage people from buying Windows Phones.

Microsoft isn't blameless either. The current mindset is to limit the reach of new Lumia models by not making them compatible with Verizon Wireless and Sprint. The 550, 650, 950 and 950XL are GSM units. They do not operate as CDMA units and do not access VZW's LTE bands. My gut feeling is that the rumored 750 and 850 will continue the trend.

Verizon Wireless users won't likely have access to a new Windows Phone until the anticipated Surface Phone arrives. Even then, it will likely be sold to business users first before the general public.

The Lumia 950s do have the CDMA bands, they are just not enabled. This is likely because Verizon wouldn't certify them for their network, thus Microsoft had to disable those bands. If Verizon supported the phones, they would work with a simple firmware update.

Not if Microsoft never pay for the FCC certification for those frequencies. As they didn't when the phone was first released, it is likely never to happen. There is much more involved then a "simple" software update.

Just google windows insider program win10 mobile. Install on phone insider app from MS store.

i.e using windows insider app, install latest release from the release preview ring. Once win10 installed go back to app and switch to production to reinstall. That will leave you with the same install and upgrade path as if using the

upgrade advisor app. build .164 final release.

Do a hard reset after each install. From phone or volume up+power. Piece of cake!

Microsoft never submitted any of the phones for CDMA certification. Had they done that, Verizon Wireless would have been forced to let the phones onto the network...or...they would have been slapped with fines by the FCC, and, risked losing licenses to operate on certain frequencies/bands.

You talked me into it.

Upgrade path was slightly different for me. I went to the Windows Insider App signed up for the Fast option and the phone rebooted and nothing happened. I turned the phone off and on and still nothing. I then went to update in settings and then the ball started rolling. I will keep you updated I am still in phase one.

That is NOT the Microsoft way it is Verizon as normal blocking the upgrade. They claim they are testing but I really think they are just hoping to make money selling you a new phone instead of allowing a free upgrade to happen that would extend the life of your current phone.

Rod Trent is one of the most knowledgeable people I know on Windows Mobile stuff. He has other areas of expertise as well. Microsoft has released it to Insiders. It works. Verizon is blocking...nothing new other than if you are on the Insiders program you get Windows 10 and if you aren't you don't!

I bailed on Verizon- I had 950xl sitting in a box (xmas present from wife) on att now, it's active and works awesome. Also, got bogo lg g5's as well, the wife wanted one, $250 for each one after all incentives, great deal. my old 1520 works again. Anyway Verizon says they make things easy but they don't. Can't switch sims and use any phone, the kicker ad final nail was when I was at the Verizon store and tried to buy the bogo s7's and the rep said I had to add a new line to get the deal, what [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] the deal is for only new customers and new lines. over the years I purchased many phones at att and outside OEM's and just put my sim in it, phones worked and att gave me the same phone deals offered to new customers, no hassel buy and put sim in. I was also told by the same rep Lumia phones don't work well on Verizon network, but it was enough for me to cross the street and switch back to att. I had att for 7-8yrs. before the switch to Verizon. Verizon one made 1 thing easy, the decision to bail!

Ok, new guy here wondering many of the same things above and see everyone trying technical workarounds and willing to wait, albeit with great frustration and an unknown timeframe from Verizon (if ever has been referenced more than once here...).

As I see it, Verizon carried and sold the phone in their stores. The marketing, advertising, and sales pitch included a windows 10 upgrade for free (I purchased in September because of this too with the explicit knowledge it would be available in December...). While VZW can't control delays in the shipping and release schedule, they are bound by their advertising and marketing to conduct the 'testing' (which seems bogus to me) or they are committing fraud (false advertising and marketing) and we have all been injured/caused loss due to Verizon's inability to commit a timeframe in which they will deliver against their marketed / advertised/ sales activities...

Thus...why aren't we looking for a class action lawsuit against vzw to force them to compensate for their false advertising, unlock anyone in a two year commitment that may have been required from their lumia 735 purchase, and compensation for the purchase of a new phone that meets the product and service commitments they advertised?

I know a few lawyers...who wants to see what Verizon's actions will be?

I don't think the arbitration clause would be binding because it is against Verizon's advertising and sales practices.

I also bought the Lumia 735 with the expressed impression that once Microsoft released Windows 10 mobile that it would be upgraded. Since Verizon still has of yet pushed it out, I have opted to getting windows 10 via the Microsoft Insider program, and it is working just fine. If you manage to convince some attorney to start up a class action suit I'll sign up, since Verizon hasn't delivered on what was promised regardless of the delay that Microsoft caused, it has been available for the last few weeks and still Verizon isn't pushing out the update.

I'll start asking my lawyer friends if they are willing and see where this goes. If anyone else is interested, please reply as well. Not sure if two people is enough, but if we get some more traction, maybe Verizon will start taking this seriously and get a real response to us all with firm timelines and delivery commitments.

Definitely need to do something, I am also frustrated. One thing I noticed, I am paying for the Visual Voice Mail service and on Windows 8.1 OS there was no notification for a voicemail! I had to manually check and refresh the app after every missed call to make sure. Now with the Insider Build Preview, Windows 10 mobile, at least there is a weird VZW text message after a missed call that left a voicemail. This can most certainly cause injury/loss if users do not receive an important communication (e.g. death, emergency call, job interview, business deal, etc...) what a sham!!! This VZW/Microsoft feud is [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] !!! I have been with Verizon since 2001 with the same number!!! I left iPhone, after my iPhone 5 was all messed up after iOS 9.1.... whatever, with a non-responsive screen, among other problems. And, then they had enough nerve to throw a pop-up add on the App store urging me to upgrade!! So, I was tired of Apple and their snobby attitude. So I thought, hmm, I'll jump to a Windows phone. I have an Xbox One, and a Surface Pro 3. I like Windows 10, and it says this phone will be Windows 10 upgradeable. Good deal! Now, this [removed] thing cant even give me a voicemail notification!!! [removed] !!!! So frustrated.

Was browsing today and as of April 11th ATT had phones that have not been converted to Windows 10 mobile as well. They are the Lumia 640, 830 and 1520. This is of April 11th. Sounds like there is a hold up across the board except on the new phones.

That could be a problem as the 735 is also sold in Europe. Maybe Verizon never intended to go to Windows 10

I have the Lumia 735 and I got a new message today on my Upgrade Advisor saying that my phone is eligible for the upgrade and they are working with the mobile operator and phone manufacturer to make the upgrade available. I am hoping that is a good sign.

I don't know how good of a sign cause that's what it said on my phone on the original release day and then it switched to the message about trying to see if the phone is eligible later. I also talked to a Verizon wireless employee a couple days ago at the store and she seemed like she had no clue about it.

Guys! Stop waiting and wishing for VZW to push the software. Use the insider app to download. Did it from day one on the Lumina 735 and NO ISSUES. Microsoft has just pushed Windows 10 Mobile Build 10586.218 as the latest cumulative update to Windows phone already so your already behind.

No faith in this carrier to push the OS, so why bother to wait.

Don't be in too much of a hurry if you have a Microsoft device (as opposed to Nokia or other manufacturer). I bought a Microsoft Lumia 935 and used it for a month or so before I signed up as an "Insider". I have had nothing but trouble since I upgraded to Windows 10. Right now I'm trying to figure out how I can do a hard reset when it crashes out of EVERYTHING, settings included.
