S6 shuts down when I put it in my pocket. Also, erratic power usage. What should I do?
I have never heard of clothes turning off a mobile phone.
I have an LG V10 and downloaded the Marshmallow update. I noticed things starting to happen afterwards. I put up with it for a few weeks. They weren't major. I decided that I didn't want to deal with it any longer. I did a reset of the device. It's not how I would like to do it but I can set it back up to where I had it in a matter of an hour. Here is why you should try a factory reset:
1.) If you have a malfunction in the software it can be cleared and usually helps
2.) If you are within the first 14 days and the factory reset doesn't work you are eligible for a brand new out of the box phone. After 14 days you get a Certified Like New Replacement (CLNR).
3.) Any replacement either brand new or CLNR is a factory reset phone that you will have to set up anyway.
4.) Sometimes, as in my case, the software update may cause issues. Resetting will either work the out or you will find out if you need a replacement device.
What was the date that you bought the phone?
If it was within 14 days, I suggest that you do the reset and test it out. If you wait you may be dissatisfied.
You asked, we answered. If you don't follow our advice that is up to you. However, I think a reset is worth a shot.
Factory reset and see if that helps.

I didn't want to do the factory reset yet so, I been tinkering and seem to have the power usage issue straightened out. I changed settings and tried to economize power usage. However, is still shuts down when I put it in my pocket. It never did that before but, I just did the latest software update which I have thought may be part of the problem.
Went to the Verizon store (Otay Ranch, Chula Vista, CA) and since I bought the phone at Target they wouldn't help. Went to Target and no help except to go to Samsung. Went to Samsung in Best Buy (Otay Ranch) and they weren't much help either.
I've had comments about how my clothes could be turning it off, etc but, as I said it never did before until about a month ago. I have had the phone less than a year.
Any other ideas?

When you do the reset what happens to your data like pictures and music?
I'm going on vacation next Tuesday and I didn't want to have a bigger problem with the phone to deal with now. I can get by with it as it is during vacation.
As you can see I am not a wizard at phone use and maintenance.
I have reset my S6.
I have a Samsung Tab S tablet and it finally dawned on me that I could also transfer my data there so, I did.
I will have to test the phone to see if the reset corrected the discrepancy. I will let you know what happens.
