VOICEMAIL Notification

I got the new S7 a month ago. I never signed up for the free visual voicemail trial. Whenever I have a voicemail and tap on the notification, it brings me to the visual voicemail app. I always decline the terms and conditions because I do not want the visual voicemail. After I decline, it just thanks me for my interest and tells me how to subscribe in the future. Then the voicemail icon goes away. All I want is my voicemail icon to pop up and when I tap on it, it calls my voicemail like it used to. I tried the press 4 on the menu options but there is no option to fix this that I could figure out. Please help!!

The voicemail icon in the notification bar opens the Visual Voicemail application?

Yes - I never set the visual voicemail up either.

You might want to sign into your MyVerizon account online and see if you can block Visual Voicemail under the Add Products and Services/Features (I think this is the location.) part of the online account. You should only do this you never intend to use the basic visual voicemail or the premium visual voicemail. If you can't do it yourself, call customer service at 1-800-922-0204 from a landline or *611 from another Verizon phone and request it added to your account.

May I ask why you would not want to use visual voicemail?

When you got your new phone, the trial that you get in your voice mail is for premium visual voicemail. Premium visual voicemail types out voicemail messages so you can read them. Basic Visual Voicemail is a standard feature on newer 4G devices, and it makes accessing your voicemail so much easier! It gives you a list to listen to whatever voicemail you want, instead of going through each voicemail as they came in.

In other words, if you have 5 voicemails, and the 5th one is the only one you want to listen to, you don't have to cycle through the first 4 to get to the one you want. No more "press 7 to erase," you can just skip those, or 2 taps to delete them.
