After the Marshmallow update I have to enter a password after restarting my phone before i can use my fingerprint. I'm now locked out of my phone and my phone is not regestered on my samsung account it is still showing the S5 and i dont want to do a

After the up date i had to enter a password to go along with my fingerprint now i cannot get into my phone because it will not take the password. When I go to locate my phone on my samsung account it still shows my s5. I refuse to resart my phone there has to be another way

I wish someone would answer this because I am in exactly the same boat. I went to the Verizon store and they say I have to wipe my phone. Just in case I changed my password to one of my other passwords I have been trying those also but nothing is working. It isn't even uploading my stuff to the cloud. My cloud says it my contacts are up to date as of this morning but what about my pics and videos?!? I need this stupid thing to take my back up password. I don't even understand why this makes sense. If someone restarts my phone they can bypass my fingerprint security if they know my password. Well, they could if the phone would accept the backup password. I have been locked out of my phone for 2 days.

Okay so this has happened to me 3 times in as many weeks. I tried Google, Verizon and Samsung and absolutely nobody could help me. I was locked out for 4 days. I understand your frustration and anger. The only reason I'm able to use this phone is that a poor soul at the Verizon store took pity on me and sent me a new phone. If he wouldn't have helped me I wouldn't have a phone.

My step-dad is great, he told me you can use your Samsung account and unlock it and it worked!!

You have to hit the part where it says s5 and change it to s6. It was doing that to me also.
