How can I place a call to Italy?

I have a Galaxy S6 with the latest OS update. Verizon has added the ability to place international calls from the US. I've tried multiple numbers and multiple combinations of prefixes, have flipped every phone related SW switch and yet I get the same annoying message "Could not complete your call. Please try again." I spent over an hour today with Verizon Phone support and none of their suggestions worked. This is so frustrating.

The root cause of the problem was Google Voice. Once I uninstalled Google Voice, the calls went through. It took 4 phone calls to Verizon and multiple layers of support until I got through to a very technically skilled support person. I suggested that they add the issue to their internal Support database in order to more efficiently deal with it the next time a customer called.

Have you tried this already? Just dial 011 then 39 then the international number (39 is the country code for Italy).

Did you try:

tel:+39 0123456789

note you need 10 digits after the +39 including a leading 0 if present or if you have only 9 digits.

To get the plus, you press and hold the 0 key on the iPhone keypad dialer.

Yes, I have tried every combination of numbers and prefixes, nothing works. It's got to be a specific setting on my phone that has escaped not only me but 2 different Verizon Phone support associates. I saw a google thread somewhere about the need to check my Call Barring settings, but my phone does not have this setting on any screen I can find.

You never mentioned having Google Voice until now. That would have been an important piece of information to mention in your original post.

I didn't mention it in the post because I mentioned it to Verizon Support and they said it wasn't the cause. It was a different Verizon support person who recognized it as a potential problem.
