I cannot get Facebook to sync with my phone contacts
That has been going on since before the S7 came out. There was a spat over what information is shared so either Google or Facebook severed the connection.
So your telling me that this is an unreconcilible issue

As far as anyone knows, yes.
Facebook removed the option last year sometime. Older devices once the contacts were already downloaded it stayed when the change happened.
