Android 2.2 Update Still Not Available?

Droid X purchased early this year. I continue to check for updates, hoping to get 2.2, but all I see is this message: "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later."

I took the phone into the Verizon store where I purchased it, but their answer was that the 2.2 update was not available for my phone, yet. Did not know when it would be available. That was mid November.

So has Verizon not pushed it out everywhere, yet? Or do I have another issue with my phone?

OK - here is what I have done to date. I did a factory reset on the phone to delete all of my downloaded apps. Once back up and running I checked phone Android version and I have 2.1 update 1.

I went to system update and now I get " Your device is up to date! No update is necessary at this time."

I tried it with just 3G and also with WiFi enabled. Same thing.

Guess I'll go bug the Verizon store folks again.

You should have received 2.2 automatically. I don't know why you were told that your cell phone is not ready for iI. I would do a little checking. Go to Settings>About Phone and check to see what Android version you already have. If it doesn't say 2.2 tap System updates.If you already did that, I would suggest checking your apps. It could be that one of your apps is preventing you from downloading 2.2.

Weird. I got my DX in the mail yesterday and it already had 2.2 pre-installed.

You don't have an "unofficial" update on there do you? This would be the only thing that should be blocking it if you removed all your apps and it still didn't download.

Also if you used unofficial methods to remove unwanted apps from device or stopped them from running, all these methods would explain why you are having the issues you are having.. Not saying this is what you did but this can be a possibilty.

"settings -> data manager -> data delivery -> social -> turn off the over wifi only; then reboot and the 3G "check for updates will work"
