I have been having a couple problems with my Droid X handset and was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on what might be causing it.
The Droid X is about 2 months old, and I use a motorola media dock to charge it at night. Very few third party apps were installed by me to begin with, and I have been selectively deleting them as this problem has increased, in an attempt to try to figure out if this is software related. I am considering a factory reset to rule out a bad app once and for all, but don't want to take that step unless it seems necessary.
In the middle of the night, the Droid X has an annoying habit of randomly starting the media player application and playing music. Usually this occurs in the middle of the night, waking me up. It is not alarm-related. Further, during the night, the Droid X will randomly add widgets to the bottom bar of the media dock screen. It's as if someone is pressing the screen in various areas, but it occurs overnight when no one has come near it.
Further, the Droid X screen is becoming more and more unresponsive in general use. I will wake the screen up and attempt to unlock the phone by dragging my finger across the screen, but the touch will not register. I can often get it to work eventually, by keeping at it. However, when I do get the phone unlocked, the touch screen often takes on a mind of its own and starts activating itself - ie, bringing up the alarm app and turning on and off alarms, despite my not having touched the screen. I have even been in the position of it pressing the emergency call button unprompted and attempting to call out (but failing, thankfully).
I will likely take it to a verizon store if the various software solutions I have been trying fail. Is there something short of a factory reset I can do, and if a factory reset doesn't fix it, does it sound like a defective screen?
