Why do I get a text from Mobile Operator (The message you sent to (my number) was delivered)?

While it's nice to know that your texts are delivered, I'm sure it's a bit bothersome to receive a confirmation text from the Mobile Operator. Let's figure this out together. How long has this been happening? Do you get this message after every single text or is it with just one contact? Around the time this started do you remember making any changes to your phone (new software update, new applications, etc)?
