I want to watch free local and national t.v. on my Galaxy s7 . I see many options and wonder if Verizon has a version of their own or a recommendation for a method to do this
You have already marked your own reply as the correct answer.
Your cable provider may have an app which you can watch TV associated with your cable subscription. Data usage across the cellular network would count against your monthly data allowance.
Individual "free" local and national TV outlets(ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CW, etc...) may have apps from which you can watch their programming. Data usage across the cellular network would count against your monthly data allowance.
Subscription services such as Hulu, Netflix, etc... have apps which you can watch TV programming. Data usage across the cellular network would count against your monthly data allowance.
Verizon has an app, Go90, which provides programming which will not count against your monthly data allowance for usage across the cellular network. This programming, however, is not likely to include programming which you would be interested in watching.
Will my question be seen by other users although no one has asked the same yet
Yes, your question is seen by others.
thanks. I'm new at this feature. Will the question or answer be sent to my email or just at this site.
If you have cable TV or another provider see if they offer a streaming app that allows you to also use your cellphone at no additional cost. So, in that sense you can get the free TV you are asking. It'll still count toward your data use for your Verizon mobile account, however, if you are not using wifi.
You have the option of individual apps for networks like ABC, A&E, etc, that are free but the quality of the apps and what offerings they have for streaming can vary. Plus, they count toward your data usage on your plan when not using wifi.
Verizon used to bundle go90 but it has been dropped. I do not know if they have any form agreement anymore and if the streaming counts toward your data usage for your mobile plan or not. I do know that Verizon FIOS does not count toward data usage if a user happens to have FIOS and streams while mobile.
As previously noted, you have the options such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, etc, but they all require their own subscriptions so if you don't have it already then it isn't free.
You can try doing a search along the lines of "free local tv app android" via a search engine like Google, as well.
HTH

Do you know this from experience? I will certainly give this a try tonight and report back as my cable provider is FIOS.

If this is the case, there appear to be requirements such as being on the Verizon Plan to not have the streaming count against your data allowance. It does not mention those still on the More Everything Plan.
Testing it right now to see if streaming counts against my More Everything data allowance.
From what I've read it doesn't matter which plan as long as you have Verizon FIOS and a Verizon mobile plan. Obviously, it can't hurt to call and get a firm confirmation from Verizon or a Moderator replying here. :smileyhappy:
As for Go90, it looks appears to be dead given they let [some] people go in January and the app is no longer bundled with the phone. I had already disabled it under Marshmallow but since the update to Nougat it has vanished completely. I actually never realized it was a Verizon service.
hank you for the detail.
Thank you \. I looked at the Sling devise for my S7 and it is a large table top that has to be connected between the satallite and the T.V. I'm not interested in that. I did see another small antenna based devise that plugs into the S7 that allows local T.V. etc. It costs around $30.00 bucks. But I dont know if it is compatible yet. The company wont give details until you buy it.....stooooppppiiiddddd IMHO

It appears people on Verizon's More Everything Plan do not get this "free streaming" from their Verizon Fios service. The streaming I did yesterday afternoon did show up in my data usage counted against my monthly data allowance.
Regardless, this is something to keep in mind as a benefit should I choose to switch to the new Verizon Plan. Fortunately, I don't currently see any need to do so since it would add another $40+/month to my monthly bill.:smileyhappy:
