Problem with Bluetooth and Nissan Vehicles

I have a 2008 Nissan Altima with in car Bluetooth. I was able to pair the phone with the car however when I recieve or place a call and I'm connected to the car, the person on the other end can not hear me and their voices are garbbled. I do not have this problem with my Jawbone headset and I did not have this problem with any other phones that I've paired with the car (Palm, LG, Blackberry) so I believe there is something specific with this phone and this car. I did an online Chat with Motorola Support and they told me to contact Nissan but I am not sure they will be able to do anything for me. On the Android Central forums, there are several other Nissan vehicle owners who are having the same problem.

Any suggestions on next steps? I'd call technical support but I don't believe this is something that we can talk through over the phone since they won't be able to hear me and they won't be able to hear themselves garbbled.

I would recommend you contact Nissan to see if there is a problem with the model of the car syncing with android devices.

I have a 2007 Nissan Quest. I have had Nissan look at my bluetooth a couple of years and they said it was fine. I tried it with my blackberry and it was awful. Haven't tried it with my Droid. Never was able to use it. I had a bluetooth via my Magellan GPS and it works find. I wish Nissan would fix this.

I have the same problem with my Altma and it is the Droid X phone. I have had several other phones work fine with the blue tooth in the car and they work fine but not the Droid X.

Unfortunately, it is a problem with Android 2.1. I did a ton of research online and the problem has to do with the bluetooth stack in 2.1. It affects all phones and Nissan vehicles. The problem occurs after Android 1.6.

A work around was suggested in a Nexus One forum. If you recieve a call, select send the call to phone (it's on my touchscreen), then hit the phone button (on my steering wheel) to send the call back to the vehicle bluetooth. I've tried it and it works. There are others who have had sucess with this. According to the Nexus One forum posters, this problem is fixed in 2.2 so the sooner they roll this out to us the better.

It's a shame that this problem has been kicking around for quite some time but no one seems to acknowlege it.

This is patched in 2.3.3 "Gingerbread"

I was suprised as you all are when i paired it. Its been soooooo long since I;ve had working BT in my Nissan with NAV BT 2008 Altima Hybrid

Last working phone was HTC Touch Pro2, Before that was the HTC 6700 , Its been hit or miss with the altima BT system.

Anyways, rejoice when VZW rolls "Gingerbread" BT bliiss will be back,

Battery, Signal bars, and clear handoffs from wheel to handset to speakerphone and back. Works great!

I have a 2009 Altima and my BT always worked great. Nissan may have updated the BT info in their newer cars, and Google may have made the Android OS backwards compatible. Regardless, I am so happy to have BT built in!
