maximum 10 SMS recipients - can I change that ?

I want to communicate via text with a sports team. I found a cool little app that works on Windows Mobile to create groups, but when I try to send to the group (17 recipients) I get the message "This message cannot have more than 10 recipients"

Is this a Verizon thing, or a Windows Mobile thing ? Anyone know of a fix ?

Got my answer by calling Verizon tech support.

This is a Verizon network limit regardless of plan or phone model, with no workaround. I've submitted a change request, but sure not holding my breath !

A work around I've used before is to figure out the text email address for each number you're sending it to; i.e Verizon's is mobilenumber@vtext.com and send a mass message via email. Each person will receive the message as a text message, just as along as you keep it to 160 characters or less.
