All my text messages got deleted without me doing it

I was wondering if there was anyway to retrieve text messages if they've been deleted? I put my phone on the charger last night and left it charging until this morning. When I woke up and unplugged it and checked my emails and texts all my texts were gone. I was told that they were backed up online but I don't know if that's true or not. Also I had some text messages locked or protected and they are gone as well. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If you do not see them, they are history. It happened to me once (I was playing with force closing apps and closed one too many) and since then, I use an app called SMS Backup. This app sends every text to an email address you choose.

That's what I figured. Is that an app in the androild store?? Also has that app worked well for you. I appreciate your response.

I just looked, I see all of the texts in my text program are in an email account I set up on Gmail.

And yes it is in the Market. It is also free.
