Incredible won't answer calls

I've had my Droid Incredible for a little over a month and 4 times now I've not been able to answer the phone when it rings by sliding my finger down in the usual fashion - I can decline call by sliding finger up - prior to today I have powered down, powered back up & it again works. Today even powering down doesn't work to reset it. I think I have a lemon because have not found any posts regarding this issue. I get some calls I absolutely have to answer so am verrrrry frustrated - almost threw my phone at the wall - until I can resolve this, is there a way to set up a voice answer? - I don't see it.

In order to resolve the issues with your device, I recommend updating the device by dialing *228.

Dial *228 on your mobile device
Select Option 2 when prompted.
Music will play
Once the process is complete, the device will power off and back on (if it does not complete this steps manually)

I have to ask, what does updating the Preferred Roaming List going to fix a phone that is ringing but unlocking the screen does not occur.

Do a battery pull while the device in on. Wait a minute reinsert and see if that fixes it. Also be sure to pick up the phone before attempting to drag the screen.

I am having this same problem! I don't get calls very often but when I do I would like to be able to answer it, I believe my phone is updated with the #228 but I will do that again and also take the battery out and back in, but why in the world do we have to do this for ANSWERING a call, it is a phone after all and should be easy to answer.

I thought of another thing to do. From the main screen choose MENU>SETTINGS>DISPLAY. Scroll to the bottom and choose G-Sensor Calibration and follow the instructions.

And if the screen still does not open shake the phone side to side for a second.

I have the same issue. I did the *228; pulled the battery; applying more pressure to the screen...nothing worked. I took it to my Verizon store and the service rep did not have a problem. I continued to have the issue, and like you I could swipe up to deny but not swipe down to answer, Verizon ended up replacing my phone. I still have the problem, but not as often. I haven't tried the G calibration, but will give it a shot.

I had the same problem for two weeks. I was about to send in the phone to the warranty company Square Trade when they suggested a hard reset (reset to factory specs). It took 10-20 minutes followed by reentering email providers and I'm back in business!

This is not an actual solution, but so far I am having success with being able to answer my phone. I downloaded an app from the android market call "Easy Answer Button". When a call comes in and your screen is locked two buttons actually show up, one that says "answer" and one says "decline. So far so good it works really well, I have been able to answer my phone when calls come in and the screen is locked...no more dragging down to answer and up to decline.
