My S6 Edge gets hot

My S6 Edge gets hot while charging and sometimes while I'm out and about with it. It has even told me that the phone needs to cool down. When it says it needs to cool down, the phone is doing things like slowing down the performance in order for it to cool down. What do I need to do? I'm worried it's something to do with the battery, and I want to know if I should exchange it or not.

This is certainly not how we want your S6 Edge working. I would be alarmed too. How long has this been going on? Did anything change on your device before this began: software updates or new applications downloaded?

I have noticed recently that my s6 edge+ is also getting hot while charging and the charger is too. The end that plugs into the phone was hot enough last night to cause me to jerk away involuntarily. I guess I should take it to my local store?

my phone (edge 6 plus) does the same thing randomly. Not when charging but just when I am out using it.

I have actually cooled it down in front of a fan before because I was worried it would crash. It isn't constant, but usually when I have an app on for a while, like maps, or if I am reading, etc..

Like our vehicles, devices can heat up as well. They shouldn’t however, overheat. There isn’t a known concern with the S6 Edge+. Were you using your original charger? Has anything like this happened before? Additionally, were you indoors or outdoors?

KJUNCATHY, your safety is our first priority. How warm does the device get? Can you still hold it? Is it warm and uncomfortable? Are you receiving overheating/temperature alert messages that advise you of a tempeture alert or cool down alert?

it doesn't happen when charging, it happens when I use some apps. It happens with Pokemon app, with Googlemaps app, with some youtube app, sometimes online using either browser etc... It has happened a lot actually. It happens a lot when I am outside, even though I keep my phone in my purse, I have had to use it for the maps when walking before and it has overheated. It happens when I'm roaming too. It isn't constant, it just happens now and again. I usually turn off my phone if I can when it gets really hot, or I cool it off in from of an A/C vent.
