This just started a couple days ago. Whenever I receive a text with an emoji in the content, I receive an identical text but the emojis are replaced with black diamonds w/ question marks. What is up with that? Thanks in advance.
Just thought I'd post that, as of the last 7 days or so, the issue seems to have resolved itself for me.
What about the rest of you?
If it makes you fell better, you aren't alone. :smileysad:
This is happening to both my husband and I on our note 4 phones as well as on galaxy tab S. We have android marshmallow on the phones, and 5.0.2 on the tablets. And, we both use verizon messages+ v6.3.5 on all devices. Seems to have started with the Aug 6 update, and doesn't happen everytime, though it is becoming more frequent.
Is there a vzw person out there with an answer?
ANGMEI78,
That extra text message would be irritating. Let's find a solution. Are these from anyone who uses emoticons or just certain people? Are the other parties using Verizon as well?

Mine is to/from anyone sporadically. My husband and I have same model phone with messaging settings exactly the same. It happens to both of us on our phones and on our tablets.
What we see instead of the emojis is what is on either side of the text in your above message (not sure if that's supposed to be that way or not) that says
Correct Answer . Black diamonds with question marks in them.
I am getting this as well and mostly from people who are using iPhones to send the message... please help!!!
I don't believe the carrier or phone type matters. I've received the double text from a friend with an iPhone w/att and my husband who has the same phone and plan as me.
We understand how this would be frustrating. Let’s keep moving towards a solution. Are you using the Message+ icon on your device. This would be the red icon with the message bubbles. What model phone are you using?
It's happening to me too. I don't see a pattern except that emoji's are used. But not all messages with emoji's are doubled, even from the same person...
I agree, it is only if emojis are used and doesn't happen every time, but very frequent. I also found it was after the last update, and only with message+. I switched to just the yellow message, and it doesn't happen. My husband and I both have galaxy 6, both did the update, but this doesn't happen to him.
Help has arrived, CWC2241! Let’s take a deeper look into the double-text situation. When did you first notice this becoming an issue? Does it happen only with Apple users? Have you noticed any other issues with text messaging?

To vzw customer service:
We've all answered your questions to us trying to pinpoint your messages plus issues. If you need to do so, please go back and read thru this thread for answers to those questions.
Some of us are using the note 4, some samsung tab S 10.5 inch tablet, some the galaxy s7, galaxy6, iphone, and other phones and devices too.
This does NOT HAPPEN when using a different messaging app. It does NOT happen EVERY TIME. It does NOT happen unless emojis are used, and it does NOT happen EVERY TIME emojis are used.
It HAS BEEN happening SINCE the August 6 UPDATE of this app.
We certainly want to find a solution for this double messaging issue, Suzy Q. When did the issue start? Does it happen when you are in a particular location (ZIP code)? What messaging application do you use?

To answer your specific questions, it's been happening for a couple of weeks now, at least. No particular zip code, although I haven't traveled mcu outside of 94533, 94534, 95687. 95688. And I use Verizon Messages + on a Galaxy S6.
See the reply by TeriandJim above, cut and pasted here since you don't see the entire thread, making it difficult to get to the real issue:
It's happening to me as well. I'm in NC just east of Raleigh.
