Questions about Marshmallow/updates

Well since receiving my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge .. Verizon has been great in regards to getting us the monthly Security Updates for Marshmallow .. however, October was slipped !! I have 2 devices in question here and would like to know when they are going to be receiving there updates ??

1. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge - last update 9/20/2016

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 - last update 6/01/2016 (which this was the initial install of Marshmallow .. has NOT received any Security Updates at all since installed)

Blame Samsung, not Verizon Wireless.

No .. I blame Verizon.

Samsung released the Security Updates to the carrier .. it's up to the carrier to do what they do and push it out via OTA to there customers.

As I said before, my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has been receiving it's updates every month, except last month (October) .. which Samsung released to the carrier on October 1 !!!! Just like they would have received another update from Samsung on November 1 !!!!

That being said .. my tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 received it's initial upgrade to Marshmallow on 6/01/2016 .. that device has not seen ANY Security Updates !!! July, August, September or Octobers.

Each of the updates on the S7 edge had been pushed OTA on or around the 20th to 25th of that month the Security Update is released to the carrier.

So .. want to tell me why I should blame Samsung ??

Google didn't release the security updates until November 5th or so. Samsung has to incorporate those updates into their package. Verizon Wireless doesn't touch the code and can't push out anything if Samsung isn't finished with it yet.

Well it's not an issue anymore for the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

Now it is one month behind as it doesn't have the November security updates that Google released on November 5th.

Ann154.. before looking at the date.. check the version of Android !

I was questioning Marshmallow - Android version 6.

This is Nougat - Android version 7.

So you got the OS update. It still isn't the most secure version of the OS. You were asking about the security updates. It makes sense for the manufacturer to skip a security patch when they are planning for a major OS update and include those skipped security patches in that major update.

Just read where they are going to try and push nougat out faster to try and satisfied ALL the people that went from note7 to s7 and s7 edge also that they may sell refurbish note 7 when they figure out what went wrong

Can you please keep us updated on how your phone is taking the upgrade to nougat. The last big update from lollipop to marshmallow kinda killed my S5. Hope to have better luck with this update.
