I am having an issue with my phone getting extremely hot and overheating to the point it shuts it self off. Don't know why it's doing this.

When do you notice the phone overheats? For example, does it happen when it's charging or when it's not on a charger? Please confirm the Software version under Settings, About phone, and list the build number.
