I've had the samsung reality for a while now. Occasionally, it would randomly turn off & turn back on. Recently it started doing it allllll the time. When I tried to send or save messages it will just turn off. How can I fix this?!?!
We want to thank you for the feedback. As previously stated, if you are having any resetting issues, please make sure your software is up to date. The latest software is u820.DK17. To check the software:
If the software is current, a factory reset would be the next option. Please make sure you backup your content before resetting the phone.
Reset:
· From the main screen, press Menu.
· Press Settings & Tools.
· Press Phone Settings.
· Press Security.
· Enter Enter Phone Lock Code ???? displays.
· Enter the 4 digit lock code, press Done (default: last 4 digits of phone number).
· Press Restore Phone
· Display: Permanently erase all user data & reset settings to factory defaults? Press Yes.
· Device will power cycle Off and on. Device will need to be reprogrammed by doing *228

First make sure the software is up to date on your phone.Secondly if that is up to date could be battery or phone is defective. You have 1year of warranty to replace the phone & parts.Has the phone been exposed to any liquid by accident?
There is no software update & the phone hasn't had any water damage.

That is good about the water thing. Then you shouldn't have any problems going through warranty
I have one and it does the same thing. My last Verizon phone which was a LG Chocolate2 did it too.
Same problem here too.
#!) WHENEVER the phone is turned off, it automatically turns back on. Highly annoying, as I cannot turn my phone off whilst the battery is still in the phone.
#2) Random actions within the software cause the phone to reset. For instance, I downloaded "Brain Games" by VZW, and most of the mini-games contained within work great. Actually, all but one - "CrossPix". Whenever that mini-game is selected, it'll go ahead and show the directions for the game, then my phone promptly turns off - and then see Issue #1.
So ummm... what's up with that?
I have noticed that the only time my reality resets is when I'm getting a new e-mail via the mobile e-mail app, but this happens less than 1% of the time.
there is a recent software release (DG03, I think), so if you notify Samsung, they will certainly fix it in the software release.
Whenever I try accessing my Mobile Email, it turns off and back on again, but never lets me go into the inbox. Just started happening this week. I updated the software, and it still happens.
I noticed ever since an update my Reality has been turning off all the time now. Also recently when i open the keyboard the screen shows snow like a bad tv channel and then turns off. Then i have to take out the battery and put it back in so it will turn back on. It's also overheating. I can't even keep it on for more than a few minutes anymore.
What if you don't know your lock code?
I am also having this issue. The phone will scrammble and it gets really hot then shuts off. I usually have to take the battery out and give it a moment. Put the battery back in and it works until it happens again either 5 hours or 12+ hours but happens almost everyday. Full charge or low charge. It doesn't matter.
Help.

Hi Itzie,
Where you able to locate your lock code to use with your phone? Does the device continue to power off getting hot and powering off? The lock code by default is the last four digits on your mobile number. To unlock your phone, touch Unlock and enter the lock code at the prompt. However, if the last 4 digits of the mobile number does not work or you do not recall the lock code, you may need to do a factory reset to get into the phone. The factory reset will erase all the data on the phone. It is suggested to try to unlock the phone to see if you gain access. Also, with the phone getting hot, is the phone in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time? What are you meaning the phone is scrambling? This is not a known issue with this phone in particular powering off due to it getting hot. Perhaps whatever is causing it to get hot needs to be determined to address this concern. Please post back with more specifics to clarify what is happening to your phone and if you were able to use use the lock code to gain access to it.
