What should I do if my software update fails to install?

I keep getting a message daily that there is a software update ready to install on my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone. It fails to install when I choose Install now on the phone. I keep getting an error message after the phone reboots stating that it failed to update. I tried plugging it into the USB on my laptop and using the Verizon Assistant tool to install the update, but it gets to 83% and freezes for hours. How do I get the phone to take the update or else quit telling me about it if it isn't compatible?

Thanks for checking in with us on this. I know it can be frustrating when your update won't go through. We want to make sure this works for you. It sounds like you've already tried quite a few things. What I would recommend doing is using Samsung's Smart Switch software, which you can download here: http://bit.ly/29tbqWQ You'll want to make a backup of your phone using the software, and then you can complete the update & repair. Once everything is updated, you can recover your content without risking any loss. Let us know if this does the trick for you.
