A few of my contacts have synced to online backup assistant (16 to be exact) but, I have 327 of them and cannot get to sync. Anyway to sync via usb connection?
I'm having the same problem. I have a few in BA and 50 in my phone. No matter what I try it wont sync. I don't sync my mobil contacts w/ Google so it can't be Google hogging them.
What happens when you open Backup Assistant and click Sync Now? I deciced to back my contacts with My Backup so I dont depend only on Backup Assistant..
backup assistant on phone says:
backed up : 16
pending: 0
Last backup: today
Last attempt: success
I press Sync Now and......................I get backed up : 16,pending: 0, Last backup: today,Last attempt: success. Same thing.
I log onto verizon website and hit sync now and same thing nothing uploads. I'm stumped.
There is currently a Backup Assistant sync queue issue between the BUA website and devices. The issue is being actively investigated by VZW Network teams. At this time we do not have an estimated time of resolution;however, our team is working diligently to resolve the outage.
I am having this same problem. I've tried deleting all my contacts, then deleting Backup Assistant, reinstalling and trying to sync and a few contacts go through (16 more than yesterday, but now I have doubles out of nowhere) - really frustrating.
Well, I can add a contact online and it will sync to my phone, I can add a contact on my phone and it will sync online but,the 300 + contacts verizon employee moved over from my Nextel i880 via bluetooth will not sync. Only 16 of them. He moved via bluetooth and linked through google. Any ideas? Thanks
Yes, Verizon employee added through google via bluetooth as he could not get my sim on i880 to open like he was able to do on our other 7 phones. How can i change to sync with Backup assistant?
that would be great. Thanks
First off I don't have the Droid X so certain steps will be a little vague. Hopefully someone who has the phone can fill in those particular details.
This method will export the contacts from Google and import them into Backup Assistant. I wrote these steps out as I completed the steps myself to work this out.
You will have to turn off the contacts sync for the Google account and turn off the display of the Google contacts in the contacts app. Otherwise you will have duplicate contacts. I don’t have the phone myself to be sure of the exact steps for this part of process.
I guess the other way to remove the duplicates would be delete the contacts from Gmail once you are sure the backup assistant is syncing all the contacts.
To be honest I haven’t used the Backup Assistant or gotten into my Contacts listing on My Verizon much since I got my Droid since Backup Assistant isn’t supported. It has worked out for me to just have all my contacts synced through Google and I have none of the Contacts on the phone alone.
Hope this works for you.
I spoke to a very knowledgable Verizon Wireless Tech Support person today. Bottom line: Backup Assistance does not work with Droid X at this time.
Best solution: get yourself a gmail e-mail account (if you don't already have one), and set your contacts to sync with that account. If Verizon ever does fix the BA interface with Droid X, you will simply have 2 backups of your data. Nothing wrong with that.
Once I switched everything to Google (calendar, e-mail even with a personal domain name, and contacts), I am loving my Droid X. Working with Outlook and/or a Microsoft Exchange sever was a ridiculously frustrating experience - even when I was using "Touchdown" as the workaround.
Good luck!
BigDaddyCmC,

That is not correct. Backup Assistant works perfectly on my Droid X and has been since early August.
However, I have been frustrated with Verizon Wireless' inability to make it work with my wife's separate contact list with her Droid 2 for the past several weeks that she's had hers. In fact, I received a call yesterday from their Network Repair Bureau which has been trying to resolve the problem. They've phoned my home at least once a week to keep us posted about my NRB ticket.
I have a Droid 2, and about half my contact data recently disappeared - I was backing up to Google. Web searches indicate this happens sometimes. I look at the VZ BU Assistant page and it shows no contacts, though my phone says it's syncing every night. I have no idea what's going on, or even how to make sure my contacts are all backing up someplace that actually works!
This is very very bad design/communication, if I worked for VZ I'd be embarrassed and looking to work someplace else if I could.
yes ba only does phone numbers.
i have many numbers for folks with no email & for that it's a nice backup & why i use & have used it before the droid x.
