Last week I purchased for my wife a new Droid Charge from Radio Shack. Ater activation, the phone started displaying a message that there was no Sim card found. They put another Sim card in the phone, and the same thing happened again in the parking lot after going shopping at a different store. By this time, Radio Shack was closed, so I went to see them the next morning.
We tried a new phone and another Sim card. Within 3 minutes, the Sim card was not found again. They called Verizon and said they were told that there is a known problem right now, and that it should be resolved by the end of the weekend. The Sim card would just start working. Sunday rolls around and nothing changes. I call Verizon myself, and they see no problems at all. The Sim activated. They said it must be a phone issue.
I go back to Radio Shack, and we try another Sim. Same thing occurs. We can't try another phone because they have run out of the Charge by this point. For the time being, they activate a Bionic for her phone line (no problems there) and say they will try to figure out what the problem is. It is now Thursday, and still nothing from Verizon on why they can't get the Charge to work correctly. My wife really wanted the Charge, and was upset with me when I brought home the Bionic. I was going to get a Bionic for myself. Should I just transfer the Bionic to my line, and reactivate her old phone? How long does a problem like this last? I've read reports online of people getting the Charge in the mail this week directly from Verizon and experiencing the same issue. She loves the screen on the Samsung phones, but her OG Droid is nearly toast. Is there another Samsung 4G phone to be realeased soon? I don't know what to do about this. If the problem with the Charge was going to be resolved soon, I'd just have her deal with the Bionic for a bit longer, but no one knows what the problem might be.
