Galaxy Note 3 horrible reception

90% of the time I DO NOT have 4G lte even though I live in an area with dense 4G coverage. Which is ridiculous considering the fact that this phone is supposed to be top of the line. I have tried everything from a new sim card, a new phone and doing factory resets on the phones. I set it next to my wife's iPhone and she has full 4G and I will have no service at all. This is obviously a problem with the note 3 because every person I know with a note 3 has the same issue. I am beyond frustrated and contacted t mobile about switching over today.

Same here, wife has S4 with full bars where i get nothing. In school, other verizon users get 4g, i don't even get cell coverage (dropped/missed calls)

but if i step outside, I am fine (after a few min)

To call the reception horrible would imply there was some reception. Mostly I see, no mobile network. That's non existent reception

I have the exact same issue as Scythe0925, my wife has a Iphone 4 and gets perfect reception, mean while i have to search around the house to find 1 sliver of a bar to maybe get a text out or a phone call, my old iphone before updating had not issues with reception what so ever in the same house ect... I have tried to powering down and removing sims card and seems to be no change at all. 1 second 4 g will flash up then like a light switch NO reception, then flickers to 1 little sliver of reception 1x and then nothing.. this happens sitting in the exact same spot in a matter of mins. But the majority of the time it has zero reception and is very frustrating when you pay $600 for a phone and cant even use it.... I need something to change because I pay a lot of money to you guys a month for this phone and am getting a 1/4 of my service in which I pay for, I miss important work phone calls, emergency calls etc.... its not reliable what so ever and this has been a on going issue with a lot of Samsung Note 3 users since release day!

Tried all of that, No change. Last night we were in walmart, I had nothing, she has full 4g. We get in the car, head across the street. I get 3g, she still is at 4g. 3-5 min later, I get 4g back.

Sitting in class today. Iphone 5s on Verizon, full signal.

Me, no signal at all (including cellular).

59425. in my house this phone is terrible, my old phone and wifes phone are solid reception. otherwise anytime I go in a building of any sort it is hit or miss on reception. this phone spends alot of time in 1x recp when every phone around me is in 4g

We definitely want to make sure that you're back up and running with good service! Does your Galaxy S3 show 4G LTE service in other locations than home? Are there any other devices at home or that visit and get poor service? Have we ever tried replacing the SIM card itself?

I'm in zip 95758 and I can't send texts from various places from home to any random place outside! My friends that have other phones...all have full bars amd 4G while I'm showing 0-1 bar and 3g! Arg!

No, I have not had the SIM card switched out...it seems from everyone else on the chat boards I've been on it does not solve the problem at all.

I have a case on the back ..it is not in an otter case.

The phone randomly shuts itself off for no apparent reason at all, has gotten increasingly worse everywhere, home, out and about, no matter where I am, the reception and the 4g is gone.

I have the same exact problem and it's so annoying because I love everything else about the phone except...well...the phone! I never get more than 2 bars and most of the time it's more like one or no bars! That is not acceptable for metro Atlanta. I have tried multiple things such as booting in safe mode and turning wifi off. I've also had the Sim card replaced at a Verizon store. I honestly think it's gotten worse since the kitkat "update" a month or so ago. If this can't be fixed I may have no choice but to make a change.

My home zip code is 30043 but the reception is awful regardless of what part of town I am in. I work all over metro Atlanta and the reception is consistently 1 or 2 bars. I am right in the middle of Atlanta (Buckhead) and I currently have one bar.

End the call signal is fine. In fact the data connection is great as I have a constant 20+MB download.

since the upgrade my phone is useless in my house, and some of the area around me. I used to brag about the 4g reception but something broke in the upgrade, you can see it from the posts above, how can I down grade to the previous version so I can use the phone again?

My husband has much better reception with his S5 even when we are sitting next to each other. We do live in a rural area and don't have good signal anyway when we are inside our house which has a tin roof and tin ceilings. But he can text, call and even browse the internet. I usually can't even send or receive a text, much less send or receive a call. It doesn't even register that I've missed a call. The internet is totally out of the question. Our phones are so similar, but his has so much better reception. It has to be a problem with the Note 3. I would like to be informed when there is a solution to this problem. Otherwise, I want Verizon to let me switch to an S5 at no charge. I've already spent too much time on the phone with Verizon customer service, Verizon technical support and Samsung Technical support. I've also spent too much time searching the internet before I stumbled upon this forum which proved to me that there is a problem with the phone itself.

I have had my Note 3 since Oct 2013. I loved it and had no problems with it. After the last update to KitKat and they also turned on the XLTE stuff in my area (Asheville, NC), I have had nothing but issues. My biggest issues is the signal quality has gone WAY down. I get dropped calls a lot, I try to make calls and the phone just sits there with no bars at all. When I am talking with people they break up all the time, I have people telling me I sound terrible and they can't understand me. I have called support a couple of times, and got the normal run around saying it was fixed, but it has not. I have called a few more times late at night only to be on hold for 45+ mins and no one ever responding. I did have the battery issue where is would drain out the battery quickly. I read online about the microSD card check thing causing this and did a hard reset and then reformatted the microSD card. This took care of the battery problem. I just can't stand the signal issue. They tell me to go outside and that is the problem. I try to explain that I have never had a problem with the signal until after the update, or tell them I have another S4 and S5 right beside me and they have great signals while mine goes up and down and off. I get the "no mobile network found" when I dial people even when I am sitting down town in the middle of the city. I hardly ever complain about things, but I am paying a lot of money each month and paid a lot for the phone, so I would like to get this fixed. I have tried all the fixes suggested on this and other forums with no luck. I would like to just swap out the phone for a S5 since it seems to be a issue with the Note 3. My phone is in mint condition so I have thought about selling it and canceling my Verizon account and going elsewhere but I don't think it is fair to have to pay at ETF fee because I am getting terrible signal issues. Anyone have any suggestions or can a Verizon Rep help me out?? Thanks for listening......

I may have a fix - goto setting from the home page, click more settings, then click mobile networks, then click network mode, change it from global to lte/cdma. I did this yesterday and I am able to make calls in places that I could not before when I would get the no mobile network found.

Also under settings, mobile networks, global data roaming access make sure the allow access for all trip is checked and not deny data roaming access.

Those are the 2 changes I made and the calls are working better.

I also am having problems with GN3 and poor reception/wifi signal. Spoke with Samsung and of course, blame it on VZ. For comparison, I also own an iphone5 and even though both GN3 and iphone5 are on same network (my house) the GN3 never pushes more than 2 bars. iPhone 5, always a steady 5 bars. It's not my network either.... I have taken both phones with me and in various wifi spots, iPhone 5, steady 5 bars, GN3, 2 bars.

Both phones are also connected to my VZ network extender in my house. I ran a test on my GN3 and here is what I found..... I have tried all the various toggling on/off, resetting of SIM, etc. Very disappointed in this level of service. I have owned the GNS for just 4 months and from the beginning, my signal always seemed weaker, never keeping more than three bars ever. Now, the bars struggle to stay at two, sometimes one.... IDK, if VZ and Samsung would stop accusing one another and fix the problem....

What about while you are connected to the Cell Network. I am also having reception issues with my Note 3. Dropped calls, trouble getting 4G. Wife has Iphone 5S which never has issues. Zip is 29860 if that helps.

I'm sorry to see that you are having service issues rielink! I see that your area has some 4G extended network, this means that 4G may be spotty and more challenging while indoors and 3G is normal when 4G signal is not strong enough. Reprogramming your phone may improve performace, please try and test: power off>remove SIM card for one minute>insert SIM card>power on.

I removed the battery and the SIM and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Still the same. It also shows up Mobile Network Not Available when I try to make calls. I see you say I am in an extended 4G network, but the Iphone I have never leaves 4G while the Note 3 struggles to maintain. Any help is appreciated

Ok so I went to verizon store, it has to be a corporate store and had them get me a replacement. Replacement just came and at this time seems to have fixed the problem, I can make and receive calls from a location I could not before. I will update as I go.

I pretty much signed up for the verizon community to put in my voice as well regarding the GSN3

Like all others on this forum, when I first got the phone, my signal was ok, then, it significantly dropped in my area after the KitKat update. My wife has an iPhone 5c, and though her signal dropped as well in our area, for whatever reason, she is still able to make calls.

My phone, as others reported, while sitting in the same exact spot can fluctuate between no signal at all, and 3 bars. I takes me about 5 minutes of hitting the retry button to be able to send a text message.

Phone calls, forget about it, I don't receive them, I sometimes get a missed call notification. It's absolutely horrible.

I love the Note 3, but, it works as everything, but a phone. I wish I had signed up for errr.. was it Verizon Edge? which allows for early upgrades, not that I'd want to pay Verizon even more money for non-working stuff ? I hate to be locked down to crappy service for 2 years. for a $700 it sure is proving to be worth 25cents!

I have tried replacing my SIM card, doing a hard reset, changing to LTE, and allowing Roaming as someone suggested. Nothing worked.

If you get a replacement phone it should fix it. I got a new replacement monday, and now the phone works just like it did before the upgrade. get with verizon and have them send you a replacement.

I may end up having to do that. though I'm not looking forward to having to re-customize everything ... (again) . Also, you seem to be the only one that has turned in the phone for a replacement, and got better results. All others are reporting the same problem. Can anyone else on the forum confirm that obtaining a replacement actually resolves the problem?

babylon what I have come to understand is the replacements need to be after a certain build date, the phone they sent me appears to be new. I will look for the build date that I saw on another web site. But for me, I was where when in the office I could not make, get calls or send texts. Now I have no problems like I did before the update. If you are in your first year they will give you a replacement, goto a verizon company store they were better to deal with then support, support kept me jumping through hoops I went to the store and had a new phone in 3 days.

I have done the same replace SIM cards replace the phone and change the settings from global to LtE. there is no fix for me the problem fluctuate there's no specific time or place it does It. I might be thinking it's an app that causes it. Whatever the reason it shouldn't happen. We all paid a pretty penny for this phone.

Verizon who are you trying to kid. This is an ongoing issue and believe me I have spoken with tier 3 technicians and still no resolution. One very unhappy Verizon Wireless customer.
