Not sure what changed. Before I would have to delete e-mails from both my phone and laptop. Now if I delete on one device it is deleted on the other. How can I stop this from happening?
If you want to keep using Cox instead of something like yahoo or gmail which allows that functionality easier from the device here's some info-
IMAP servers allow users to view email messages via an email client or application. IMAP offers features that POP does not, such as:
Support for simultaneous multiple access. New email is available and accessible from any client device at any time.
Partial fetch, only the sender and header information is downloaded, which leaves more storage on the device.
Two-way communication between client devices and the email server. This increases stability of the server.
Messages can be downloaded to the client device, if needed.
Actions to a message such as read or replied to, will be seen on any client device accessing the same mailbox.
The server can be searched for specific messages based on different criteria. This allows the user to download only the messages they want.

Switching from POP to IMAP
Switching your Cox.net POP email to an IMAP server requires the following:
Set up an IMAP email account using the same email address associated with the POP settings. See Resources for Setting Up Cox.net Email for additional assistance.
Delete the POP email account.
When changing your Cox.net email from POP to IMAP, you can potentially lose email messages. If a message does not appear in an email account, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
A configuration issue with IMAP or POP access
Settings applied to incoming mail, such as filter or forwarding
Deliberate or accidental human action, or a comprised account
Before deleting the POP email account, it is recommended that you back up your current messages.
The most common reason for missing email is that the message setting, Leave Messages on Server, within your email client is not enabled when using POP mail. Most email clients can have a POP and IMAP enabled mailbox that share the same account credentials.
To prevent losing email when switching from POP settings to IMAP, be sure that the option for Leave Messages on Server is enabled.
Have you checked settings for your mailbox(es) to make sure it's not set to delete from server? That is usually the only way emails will delete from all locations.
there's no option to leave mail on the server with the s5, when it's gone, it's gone.
Yes this option does exist on the Samsung Galaxy S5
where please??
It can be located in slightly different areas, depending on which app you're using and the type of email service. Who is your email provider and which app are you using ?
pop3, default app.
It would be listed under the the email settings in the device if your email provider supports those settings to be controlled/altered from a mobile device-
Galaxy S5 steps to adjust deletion of email messages on server on or off
1) Press the drop down list below "Delete email from server".
2) Press Never or When deleted from Inbox.
Press Next.
just where are you finding "delete email from server" on the s5, i've been in accounts & the specific pop3 account & no such setting??
do you have an s5 & are able to leave email on the server??
I don't personally own one anymore, my 74 year old neighbor does, and that's how I set hers up at her request. She's a little device challenged (and she's from France). It works on hers with the native email app & gmail pop. She came over the other day because she couldn't get it to turn on so I did in a minute lol. Next time I help her with it I'll take another look tho!
not any more huh!!....you never setup an s5 to leave mail on pop3 server, it's never been available & something verizon is working on......
fwiw:
i had an s3 prior to the s5 & leaving mail on the pop3 server was an option.
If it's never been available on the S5 then why were these Verizon customers able to find it?

1st off, these items listed last don't pertain to the s5:
1. Open your mail program on your computer and go to Account Settings.
2. Than to Properties Tab and next to Advanced tab.
3. Check off the box "Leave a copy of message on Server" and set Remove from Server after 7 days.
4. Also uncheck Remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items Box. That should solve your problem.
do you see anything here under incoming server on my s5 about leaving a message on the server??
