5GUW AVAILABLE, 390mbps+, Verizon only giving me LTE unless I do a speed test? NOT COOL. I’m paying a premium for unlimited 5GUW, not slow LTE!!!

I’m paying for unlimited 5GUW data. So why is it that half the time when I’m in a location I have already confirmed a super fast 5GUW connection is available, I play a YouTube video, and it’s getting stuck. I look at my connection and it says LTE!? So I go do a speed test with the Speed Test app, and after a few seconds of slow LTE speeds it ramps up to super fast 5GUW and the symbol changes on my phone as well to 5GUW. Then I go back to play the video, which should be perfectly possible, and my phone reverts back to abysmal LTE speeds. I can’t even watch it at a decent resolution as I should be able to. IT’S WHAT I’M PAYING A PREMIUM FOR. Anyone else getting this? This is not the service I’m paying for. My connection should be automatically as fast as possible. I shouldn’t have to trigger a speed test to temporarily get the speeds I’m paying for.

If it makes you feel any better, there are quite a lot of us in all different locations who wonder why we have the same problem.  It would help if you give your ZIP code so Verizon CS could see if there's an outage, but I suspect that it is simply that Verizon's network is not able to keep up with data traffic demands in your area.  The 5G/5G UW network is actually not very big, sadly.  If the problem persists you will be better off switching carriers, as Verizon removed the ability for customers to manually select the band on their devices.  (If your phone is a Samsung, Samsung also disabled the same ability and the old Band Selector app doesn't work anymore either.)

There’s clearly not an outage if every time I do a speed test it proves that I have 300-500 Mbps download speeds as my phone temporarily switches to 5Guw. Verizon is screwing us over with secret data caps that switch us to LTE when there is a perfectly good 5Guw signal. Total B*S*

Anyone get back to you on this? I just switched and noticed the same on my 5 lines (family plan) mentioned it to a rep over the phone and another on chat. They said they never heard such a thing…
