Dropped calls 2025 Arlington VA 22205

Lived in the 22205 part of Arlington for 16+ years , rarely had issues with coverage. Since early Feb 2025 , more dropped calls in past 30 days than in all the prior time with Verizon cellular.

Have upgraded old plan, have changed to new phone , nothing different … low bars , -112 dBm , what is going on with cell towers in North Arlington and McLean?

Did you get a new SIM card or new eSIM when you upgraded your service plan and phone? If not, could be that your old card is "stuck in the past" and not current with the latest network technology. Or your account needs to be reprovisioned so your phone "knows" to use all the available spectrum.

Totally new phone and already resynced to make sure the new phone and account knew to use the new spectrum and features; the second service tech an I walked thru that after the service didn’t improve with the new phone and new plan

Incoming and outgoing calls. All at my house where we’ve lived for more than 15 years without this issue. . Doesn’t matter which room or if I’m on the porch. I have had three extended calls with service : 1) told me I had to change phones and plans; second walked thru the reset of the system to make sure the new phone synced to the new expanded services ; 3rd at least told me I wasn’t crazy and there was work happening at some towers in nearby McLean. Every day I get an email that says service disruptions in our area to be resolved by the next twelve hours - repeated 2x a day every day only pushing it back every day.

Update - after more hours in text exchange with service team - clarity has come in that the new phone and new plan bit “to solve my dropped calls” seems to have been a complete ruse to get us to un knowingly lock in for three more years . Needing to escalate to higher level because now I am getting upset enough to abandon this company after 15-20 or more years

I have also have signal issues in 48124 zip. Been told have been working on it, always revised to 12 hours later. Even notified by engineer that a problem was discovered and would be fixed. Well did not fix issue. Back to stating it will be repair 12 from now only to be push 12 hrs. Very frustrating, if I didn't get to pixels paid over 3 years , I would leave service after over 18 years.

Picking this back up a month later … same issue . Monitored one day as I walked down my street and watched block by block the signal go from 5GUW solid to 5G to LTE to one tiny little bar. Dozen dropped calls the past week. Getting ready to investigate switching providers

When you are inside your home and your phone is connected to WiFI, you might try turning on Airplane Mode. Then your calls will be through your home's WiFi, which hopefully is a strong signal. It seems Verizon or Apple changed something in Feb 2025, and the phones want to stay connected to a poor cellular signal too long, before switching to another cell channel or to WiFI calling.

Did this ever get resolved? I'm having the same issue, been happening since February and here it is mid-April. Many hours on the phone with Verizon, but, oh, guess what? Suddenly they can't hear me, or the call drops—and they can't even call me back because my phone doesn't ring! I've had my wireless phone number since 2005 and NEVER had a dropped call in all that time. 20 years without issue. Did you end up switching carriers?

I got an eSIM card and my phone worked for a while, then dropped calls again. Every solution or fix Verizon comes up with fails eventually.

LOL. When Verizon tries to call me back after being on the phone and the call drops, my phone doesn't ring! And it's not because I've silenced it or the volume is low or it's on airplane or do not disturb mode. Nope. Just can't receive calls all of a suden.

I'm not surprised, sadly, that you were duped. I'm curious which carrier you'd switch to because I'm ready—after 27 years with Verizon.

I end up using wifi calls or FaceTime audio. But that is not how this should work and it definitely started in early February

If Verizon still hasn't been able to figure out why your service is now "meh", I'd look into test driving the competition, as all the big carriers offer a free trial so long as you aren't/haven't been a customer for the past 90 days and your phone is unlocked and supports dual eSIM. Seems like you're paying a fair bit if you're eligible for 5G UW and can get it elsewhere; mediocre service can certainly be had for less. Dead zones have many causes, so it's hard to pinpoint why it's happening.

We are in zip 37659 Jonesborough TN - about 10 hours by car from you and we have been exoeriencing the exact same problem since the exact same time. We went from blazing fast internet gateway and a full 5G signal (in rural East Tennessee) to suddenly only one bar of 5g then 1 bar of LTE and sometimes even SOS. Spent literally a 9 hour day of wasted time on the line with Verizon. A few follow-up calls. They said nothing had been reported after months of calls. Then said they saw something on network to in the same call say no issue had been reported and had to make a new network ticket - after over a month of calling - oh and this was the fifth rep in the 9 hour continuous day… (only to be interrupted by them suddenly leaving the discussion each time before this) This rep was helpful and set up a follow up call with her personally - only for it to be reassigned and someone else after a couple follow-ups said the case was closed. Reopened the case today after getting literally a 6mbps signal. And our gateway suddenly maintaining a 225mbps signal. But not our phones. (All IPhone 15 models) have done all conceivable reboots, relearning, airplane modes etc…. You aren’t alone sadly. If you find a solution please let us know. Our only option it appears (after having many good signals up until recently) is Verizon or Starlink.

I’ve had this same problem. Reading other users posts. My husband fell for the “you need a new phone” thing that locked him in for 3 years while I was out of town. Then I had to fight for 2 weeks to “get the same price you were paying before”. He still has dropped calls.

I continue to have this issue for weeks, not just at home (22066 zip) but elsewhere too. They gave me a “new network extender” (not to be confused with a WiFi extender). When using the cellular network that is set up in the house via our (get this) Verizon Fios WiFi, you can’t use WiFi calling, and calls still drop (happened twice today).

I’ve been a Verizon customer for over 20 years. I’m not about to get a new phone when the one I have is just fine (not even out of the last 3 year lock in policy with this current “free” device).

I can’t believe Verizon is so clueless about this issue that is affecting so many people.

It got better for a short time but again internet is not always holding a signal. Buffering on streaming video calls. Using gateway. And my cell is actually not ringing and sending people straight to voicemail at times. Then other times full clear signal. I had turned on WiFi calling as requested by Verizon but that made it worse.
