Overall mediocre coverage, but 5G and 5G UW especially.

Hello, I live in Tampa Florida 33625. Service around my home is poor and I’ve noticed throughout most of the city unless I’m downtown I have mediocre and slow service. I rarely have more than 1 or 2 bars of LTE service and if I have 5G it’s usually slow (again unless I’m downtown) and 99% of the time the second I walk into any building I never have 5G service. That issue happens in literally every part of the country, which I read is an issue with Verizon 5G. What’s the point of having 5G if I have to stand outside to use it. Network upgrades are definitely needed for speeds. I have been trialing the T-Mobile network and their speeds are normally faster across the board, especially inside buildings which is probably the most important. Verizon really needs to take a look at upgrading network speeds across the board and making 5G more reliable inside a building.

I tried out T-Mobile too, but I had the opposite experience of yours, where my signal strength died as soon as I went indoors, and although my 5G light was on about 80% of the time, my 5G speeds were consistently slower than what I can get through Verizon's 5G! Because there are a lot of different factors affecting how a carrier's service can perform, no carrier can have the exact same service everywhere. In the end, it's important that your phone or other device using the wireless network does what you need it to, so if someone else is able to provide better service, it's time to port. Good luck.

Totally understand that no cell phone company will ever be perfect everywhere BUT I have been able to trial t-mobile side by side with my Verizon service and my data speeds are generally much slower UNLESS I’m in or around downtown Tampa or major areas like universities where I have very fast speeds (outdoors) as soon as I step in a building I lose my 5G UW service 90% of the time. I was just in the middle of Boston and I had full bars outside but stepped in a restaurant and couldn’t send a text message and had 1 bar of LTE. Now I haven’t really been making phone calls with my t-mobile trial so that could be lacking but everything is data based nowadays.

I am just surprised that Verizon’s 5G is so limited and the LTE, while spread out, is capped at 1-2 bars (generally speaking of course not 100% of the time) I really have wanted to be on the Verizon network for years as I was with AT&T for a while but I’m not really as impressed with the “30 JD Power awards boasted network”. I’m just hoping some updates are in the works.

We strive to provide the best service and that has not been the case with your experience. 5G UW is a great and fast connection, however it can be disrupted when going inside a building. Have you had signal in this area before? Have there been any changes to your device? ~Peter

Yes, I have signal, it’s just limited data speeds especially with 5G inside a building.
