You have a lot of company and not just in Houston. Something I've been noticing is even if you have a 5G indicator showing, it doesn't mean your device is actually in 5G. It could be running in 4G LTE mode. If you have Opensignal installed, it will tell you.
Maybe it's just that the towers where you are can't keep up these days for whatever reason and you're being relegated to 4G service. Oddly enough, I was in Houston (Clear Lake City area) a couple weeks ago and my service was better there with more consistent 5G access and better data speeds than it is when I'm at home or at work!

Huge lag since Beryl which is frustrating since home internet is down. I've never had lag issues until this year. Very disappointing as I could pay less with another company if this is the service is becoming as undependable as those other cheaper companies.

BlergHou, we never want you to have service issues, and we're sorry about the lag after the hurricane. What download/upload speeds are you getting on your phone at the moment? Are you using it for hotspot to power other devices or is it lag on the device itself?

Here’s mine a 1.5 after the hurricane in Galveston County. Verizon said nothing is wrong with the service in my area. Please explain? Supposed to be a 5g area, yet my phone won’t work unless it is connected to WiFi.

A bunch of people affected by Hurricane Beryl still didn't even have electricity as of a few days ago. If the power is out to the tower you're usually connected to, then that tower will not be working. Or if the hurricane damaged the tower itself, it'll likely be a while before things are back to normal.

The Spectrum outage which hit the entire state is still affecting Houston, I guess. Wind and flood damage don't get fixed instantaneously. Only thing which can be done until everything is cleaned up/repaired is to look for an alternate source of Wi-Fi because the Spectrum outage did not affect some ISPs.
