Signal LTE and 5G - Reston VA

Vz used to have a strong signal in Reston.  Lived in the same place for over 20 years.   I used to have full bars on LTE and better 5G.  It has gone downhill over the last year.  Calls constantly drop, and bandwidth/throughput is awful.   Consistent on two iPhone Pro Max (one 16, one 15).  Both are fully updated to date on the latest IOS. Also, on two iPad Pros (year old, also current).

Field test mode shows signal at -111bb - which is considered "Very Poor" according to the charts.

Can't seem to get anyone at Verizon to address the issue.   I would hate to move to T-Mobile, but I realize VZ is not focused on maintaining its network like in the past.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi all.  I want everyone to know the experience I just had.  I had a VZ rep attempt to help me, but in the end, refused because my account is connected to a business account.    I explicitly asked for a tech ticket to be opened on the issue, so it could be tracked, and was denied.

I provided proof of the poor signal, detailing that it's in and outside the house  (no barrier or obstacles) It's the same house I have lived in for 20 years with Verizon service. I got the same results on four different Verizon devices—all under two years old and fully updated.

I'm faced with cancelling my corporate account, family account, and FIOS and just moving on at this point.    I read Verizon's network has moved to second place, and now I understand why.

-111 dBm isn't awesome signal, but is usable.  Mine is often like that, and my calls, etc. are OK.  It's possible there are network upgrades going on which are making things a little strange.  With more and more devices connecting to wireless networks now, network congestion is a very real problem and there's not a surefire answer since not everybody wants a cell phone tower in their backyard.

Have you checked your carrier settings and made sure they're up to date?  Verizon Business Support can be contacted at the link at the bottom of the forum page under "support".  It is possible your account needs to be reconfigured so your phones know to use all the available spectrum, and/or your phones need to be tweaked to use a different spectrum.

As for a certain competitor saying that, personally, I think it all depends on what source is being used to rate networks.  But I had to chuckle to myself when the opening line of their ad said something like "For years, Verizon had the best network...and they did."  In other words...it's taken you this long to own up to that and to catch up? 😜  I tried them, and it lasted less than a week before I came back, because Verizon prepaid was better than being on postpaid with them!
