ADW Launcher EX

Wooo, just bought this launcher.

It has, shall we say, a dizzying array of options. It will take me a while to take all of these options in to make some coherent decisions about just what I'd like my phone to look like. But whatever I figure out, I'm certain I'll be able to make it happen with this app.

I should know better than to download something like this as I'm going to bed, grrr...

I've used the standard version for a while now, what kind of extra features has the EX version added?

Ill test it ovr the weekend and then decide which I will use.

This is the article where I read about it.

Geri O...
And scroll down a little until you see the screenshots. The one on the left is the screenshot I'm referring to. You can see part of a calender placed at an angle in that shot.

I spent nearly an hour this afternoon searching for it, coming up empty-handed (and before the grandkids showed up!). I did email the developer, maybe we'll hear from him...

Did you notice the screenshot with the calender widget that was placed at an angle to the clock widget? A lot of folks (me included) would like to know what that widget is. Its not pure calender or s2. Something like "Helloooo"? Any ideas?

Thanx, I've enjoyed playing with this one. It's been pretty snappy on my X.

Ahh...i heard from the dev...it is a calender under development by him. And to "stay tuned!"

This launcher is fresh out of the oven, as it were, so there are bound to be a lot of really cool things on the way.

That explained it because I scanned the web a bit lastnight with no luck, found a few that looked close but not the same app....

Another thing I can say that the ADW Launcher EX does seem to perform better than the free version and I can see it growing on me.:smileyhappy: and the transitions are sooooo sick that Launcher Pro going have to come up with a upgrade soon but I have to admit I got use to LP+ widgets.

Yeah, for an old guy that values the practical side of hardware and software, I've really enjoyed playing with the slick transitions part. Hopefully the widgets will come along shortly.

I hope so, but until then I am glad that there is a number of apps on the market that is close to the widgets I am use to on LP+, after being in a computer field for almost 20 years I still appreciate a nice developed app and it appear this update is nice..

OK :smileyhappy: Im sold, this is a keeper for me, ADW Launcher EX has outdone themselves  with this one and this was worth every penny..  Looks like Launcher Pro + will go on the backup device and ADW comes to the store front :smileywink: :smileyvery-happy:.

Anyone wanting this app better grab it now before the price goes up,,,,  I can see the possibility of this.

Agreed. Or, as we do at the LAB, +1000. And the Anders fellow is very responsive to inquiries and emails,  and nice to talk with as well.

I was beginning to think that EX was draining my battery quicker, but then I realized that since I was at home during the holidays, I was playing with the phone and the various functions of EX, causing the display to be on a LOT more than usual, as shown by the Battery Manager function showing what is using how much power....:smileyvery-happy:

Beautiful Widgets is running fine with EX, as best as I can tell. I just downloaded the Pure Calender Grid widget, which is working fine, except for offering only one skin. I know I'm doing something wrong here, I"ll figure it out eventually...

I've sent them a note asking for more options with programming the Home button and the ability to set a default Home Screen. When I re-boot the phone, it gives me the first screen of seven screens when I use the 4th, or middle screen as my Home Screen.

Unless I've missed something, which is totally possible.....?

Geri, to change the default homescreen, hit menu, edit, find the screen you want, then hit the yellow pin when it is above the page. From here you can also add or remove screens.

Pure Calender Grid widget has a large amount of themes, just click settings icon on left corner and on the bottom bar there is a opyion "Continue and Skin" and you can download and apply themes.  Remember that you have to to press :Select" after "Install" to make new theme rhe default.

ok...you all sold me and i got this. it's pretty sweet. i've never used a third party launcher so i have some dumb questions.

can i no longer use the weather widget (that i loved) that was htc's stock widget? are the htc widgets specific to it's stock launcher? and if this is the case, can i not use my "favorites" contacts widget that i used to use? if i cant, can anyone recomend the best weather widget and a favorites contacts widget that could be downloaded (not an app)??

loving the ui, especially the 4d app drawer. and this really is smooth!!! also love the fact that my home screens can now go landscape (which i never could figure out why htc's could not???).

The HTC Sense widget is a after market widget on Droid X and if you are thinking of Beautiful Widget, that widget and others you asked about should work fine, you can add them the same way you do the stock launcher, press and hold and select from list.
