When will we be able to download "The Empire Strikes Back" Verizon App per the press release below. Does anyone know?

Star Wars Mobile App Available for All Customers with Android 2.1 phones
To celebrate 30 years since the film hit theaters, customers with Android devices running Android 2.1 or higher will soon be able to get the Empire Strikes Back app from Android Market™. The app, only for Verizon Wireless customers, allows Jedi Masters to browse, preview and download Star Wars content related to Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Verizon Wireless customers can access premium Star Wars content for a one-time charge of $2.99.

The limited edition smartphone goes on sale Sept. 30 online at www.verizonwireless.comand in select Verizon Wireless Communication Stores. The Star Wars Mobile App does not have a set release date. That application and all other applications pertaining to the R2-D2 Droid are expected to be released shortly after the phones launch.

App not out yet on Verizon section of Android Market or in general Android Market. Oct 5th, D2. Verizon issued false rumor or waiting til r2d2 phone sales justify releasing the App?

Very disappointing app. Very slow and content is not worth the $2.99 price.

And what's worse, you have to open the description in the market and read the description to see that there is a charge for the application. FALSE ADVERTISING!

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. If you're expecting the wow factor from The Empire Strikes Back app you will be sorely disappointed by the effort. I'm surprised Lucasfilm's quality assurance let this be released with their name attached.

First off it LAGS so badly, the swipes between screens and animations stutter and they're so so slow.

Secondly the cool Live Wallpaper that came with the R2 phone does NOT come with this app; instead you get low-res, junkie gif animations that loop erratically. The static wallpapers are images you can download from your phone browser and set as wallpaper. The widgets and trivia game FORCE closed (ironically) the app. The soundboard options are as comparable as any other SW soundboard on Android Market (and setting them as ringtones or notification tones FAILS). There are spelling mistakes and placement issues of some elements ("Tautaun"? It's Tauntaun).

Wow, how this got released in such a horrendous state looks badly against VZW considering the hype and fanboys (like me) looking forward to it. What's worse, NO REFUND if you uninstall like other apps in Android Market. Verizon SHOULD refund anyone who bought this because it really reflects poorly on their commitment to their customers. Sad.

I agree that there should be a refund option for this app. It isn't worth $2.99.
