Just found how.......press app icon, hold, and drag to trash.

I had a similar experience when I first got a Mac. Having been a Windows user, and a Linux user (I've done my own bootstrapping and compiled Gentoo a few times), I was flabbergasted trying to get rid of a program. When someone told me "drag to trash can..."

Where is the trash ICON?
Bottom of the screen.
Removing the app icon from the home screen does not delete the app. It simply removes the shortcut to the app.
To remove the app, go to:
Menue - Settings - Applications - Manage applications
Click on the app you want to remove
Click Uninstall
It's easier and quicker to remove apps from the Market-Downloads section.
